Youth Ma Feng

Zhao Shuli and Ma Feng are nationally recognized as the leader in Shanxi's " Yam Egg Pai ". Mr. Ma is a famous novelist and is also good at writing movie scripts. During the revolutionary war years, the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and after the Cultural Revolution, he left behind a popular masterpiece. "The Legend of the Heroes of Luliang", " My First Superior ", "Young People in Our Village", "Tear Scars", etc., are still deeply left in the appreciation and memory of the general public.

Ma Feng works in the same team with a well-known writer. At first I was a little nervous and felt that I should look up at him with a look. As soon as we met, we couldn't look up at us. He has no such a great writer at all. His dress and demeanor are like a grassroots cadre in rural areas. After several contacts, I felt that he was an elder, relative, or comrade. He didn't need any scruples when talking to him. He could take out any words from him if he had any thoughts. As the secretary of the Party Group, he inevitably presides over meetings and speeches frequently. In my impression, Ma Feng's speeches were very brief, with the longest being more than twenty minutes. There are no clichés, no singularity, and a few very popular words to explain the key points of the problem clearly, which is both principled, reasonable and full of humor. This is the result of long-term "cultivation", and it has reached the point of perfection. I feel that he is a very skilled leader.

Ma Feng has done many important things in the Writers Association. Some things are known to everyone, and some things are not known to ordinary people. For example, building a new office building is not completed in his hands, but it is up to him to complete the procedures and lay the foundation. Before the Cultural Revolution, the Chinese Writers Association and the Chinese Federation of Literary and Art Circles worked together in a small building on Wangfu Street. During the "Cultural Revolution", , Literary and Art Circles, and various associations were abolished, and office buildings were also occupied by other units. In 1978, the Writers Association resumed operation and had no office location. From the late 1970s to the early 1990s, it had been building several rows of simple buildings at the open space in the courtyard of the Hongqi Magazine . In the early 1980s, the Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Writers Association, and " Literary and Art Newspaper " jointly built a new building in the south of the Agricultural Exhibition Hall, but only a few newspapers and publishers under the Writers Association were working inside, and the Writers Association's agency is still in a simple building on Shatan North Street. After Ma Feng took up the Writers Association, he immediately started to solve the office building problem. He joined hands with the former Secretary-General Yang Zong from the Shanxi Provincial CPPCC and served as the Director of the General Office of the Chinese Writers Association. As soon as Yang Zong arrived in Beijing, he made every effort to build office buildings. Finding places, relocation, laying foundations, reporting to superior authorities, and applying for approval. All of this was done under the leadership of Ma Feng. Some people say that after working for more than a year, I only dug a hole. In fact, moving the residents on the ground and laying the foundation is a very difficult and time-consuming task. For example, although the first winner list of the Lu Xun Literature Award was announced in 1997, the establishment of this award was determined under the leadership of Ma Feng. In the early 1990s, the Central Propaganda Department of believed that most of the national literary and artistic awards were too overwhelming and needed to be compressed. Ma Feng convened a party group meeting and repeatedly discussed with the comrades in the Secretariat. After the party group agreed, several projects except the novel Mao Dun Literature Award were merged, called the "Lu Xun Literature Award". The Minority Literature Award was jointly organized by the National Ethnic Affairs Commission , but was not merged into the Lu Xun Literature Award, and it still retains its original name. After confirmation, it will be submitted to the Central Propaganda Department and approved by the Central Propaganda Department. The Lu Xun Literature Award later expanded the award evaluation project, but there was no translation award. This project was established by the next Party Group and Secretariat.

Ma Feng's integrity is well-known. In 1991, the State Council issued a notice to allow relevant units to evaluate "experts with outstanding contributions." The Writers Association finally signed up for eight people. The comrade in charge of the cadres originally thought that there was no problem with Ma Feng's creative achievements and mass influence. But Ma Feng refused to let his name be listed.He is a great writer, but he does not enjoy the special allowance of from the State Council. The External Liaison Department of the Writers Association has to arrange more than a dozen people to visit abroad every year. With Ma Feng's international influence, he should lead a delegation to visit, but he never went abroad once during his tenure as the Party Secretary. His early departure from Beijing is also closely related to his integrity. According to the policy regulations, he was transferred from Shanxi to work, and the State Administration of China or the Chinese Writers Association should give him a house in Beijing. What's more, he is the vice chairman of the Provincial CPPCC in Shanxi, and he should be allocated a very spacious house according to the corresponding level. Ma Feng firmly refused to divide the house and asked for two small rooms in Lu Xun Academy of Literature. The couple opened an electric stove and cooked for a living. Luyuan does not have a boiler room, and in winter, it relies on a factory next to it to supply heating. The Writers Association pays a certain amount of heating fee to the factory every year. The factory is about to go bankrupt, and many workers are no longer coming to work, the heating is burning indiscriminately, and the dormitory of Luyuan is very cold. Ma Feng is old and cannot withstand the long-term cold. He had asthma in the past, and the disease worsened after coming to Beijing and could not be cured for a long time. Having been troubled by this disease for many years, Ma Feng felt that it had something to do with the local environment and had to go back to Shanxi to live, but he was still paying attention to his work in Beijing. When he left Beijing, he was afraid of disturbing the cadres and masses of the Writers Association and did not notify anyone. I and Wang Zengru, the former secretary of Ding Ling, , learned the news from the driver and rushed to Shilibao to send him into the car. Later, I went to Taiyuan many times to visit this old leader. He once wrote to me, suggesting that five congresses be prepared in time and to hold them, and asked me to report to the superior leadership organs. Ma Feng died of asthma in the end. I felt sad when I remembered it. We did not take good care of the elderly in Beijing. Once I was chatting with Zhang Ping, and he said that Ma Feng was a very pure person. I feel very much the same. After New Year's Day in 2004, Ma Feng was seriously ill and was admitted to the hospital. Before our death, it was the eve of the Spring Festival. Ma Feng told the doctor and his family to find ways to delay the death period until after the Spring Festival. If you cannot do it, don’t reveal the news during the Spring Festival and wait until the death period is announced after the Spring Festival to avoid disturbing others’ celebrating the Spring Festival. When I heard about this, I burst into tears. This is Ma Feng, who is still thinking about others before he dies. After receiving the bad news, I filled out a song "Traveling on Sha Xing·Farewell to Ma Feng":
