A letter from a female educated youth in Guan County
Teacher from Dujiangyan Editorial Department:
Hello! Thank you very much for collecting information for Dujiangyan’s educated youth, editing and publishing it. Thank you for your hard work!
After reading the stories of educated youth in Guanxian County that you reported, those photos and words immediately brought me back to the scenes of working and living in the mountainous areas.
I am a junior high school student in Guanxian County. Although I have the ability and ideals to continue my studies, due to policy reasons, I had no choice but to fail. I had to apply for the medical class of Wuqi Middle School for comfort.
Not long after the Special Period Movement started, I was even more unable to go to school, so I went north to join my elder brother (who was at the Fifth Design Institute of the Ministry of Machinery and Engineering in Beijing). After living in the capital for two years, I rushed back to answer the call and began the life of an educated youth in the mountains and countryside. Obeying the school's arrangements, carrying the uniformly distributed large flower quilt and mosquito net, I resolutely rushed to the fourth team of Baisha Brigade, Baisha Commune. I have been rooted in the mountainous area for more than ten years.
The years of educated youth are full of memories of working in the mountains: digging winter land, planting corn, plucking corn skebs, breaking corn from five yellow to six months...spring, summer, autumn and winter, the cycle goes back and forth. In days like this, I not only exercised my foot skills in going up and down the mountain, but also tempered my strong will. In addition to labor-related re-education activities for poor and lower-middle peasants, we also participated in various activities of the commune, such as temporarily organizing cultural and entertainment teams during the Spring Festival, rehearsing programs to express condolences to the People's Liberation Army of the Hongkou Military Region; participating in special group surveys organized by the commune, etc. These colorful activities It became a small spark in simpler times, stirring up young hearts, and also brought us closer to the social sentiments of the country at that time.
Later we got the opportunity to teach as a substitute in Baisha Mountain. I participated in the training organized by the Education Bureau and taught and educated people in Baisha Mountain for 11 years, leaving my most precious youth there. During the teaching period, he did not forget to continue his studies and persisted in taking Chinese correspondence courses at the Wenjiang District Teachers Training College while working, and finally graduated with honors. It was not until 1982 that he was seconded to Beijie Primary School for a one-year probationary period and received stronger training on a larger stage. A year later, he was officially transferred to Beijing Primary School and worked at until his retirement. He once served as a high-level Chinese teacher and class teacher in primary school, and served as the teaching and research team leader of the school's Chinese language group and the grade-level teaching and research team leader. During this period, he won awards and honorary titles at all levels, such as the Ministry of Education-level model worker in 1989, and the title of subject leader in primary and secondary schools in Chengdu in 1990... Find joy in suffering, find joy in tears. Thanks to a group of Wuqi Middle School alumni who traveled together, the smiling faces of youth are always the best memories during these difficult years, and mutual help has become the sweetest fragrance of these years and a special mark of our generation.
I have always wanted to write about the experiences and insights of educated youth. This is a good wish of mine. Always rushing through another day. I hope that inspired by your dedication, this wish can be realized. I hope you will continue to work hard... Let the wasted years of the educated youth in Guan County leave some traces...
Thank you again for those of you who are caring. Your dedication is worth learning from. I support your work and are willing to contribute to the Guan County Educated Youth Organization. Please let me know if you need it.
