On October 1, 1951, Beijing held a grand celebration for the second anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Tiananmen Square looked particularly majestic and bustling with people. Nearly 10,000 people attended the ceremony, including not only Chairman Mao, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De and other central leaders, but also representatives of various ethnic groups, members of various democratic parties, fighting heroes, model workers, and others.
Zou Yachun, a middle-aged woman who came all the way from Jiangxi, was also an invited representative. She stood on the VIP viewing platform and looked at Chairman Mao who was observing the ceremony from a distance, and she couldn't help but get excited.
The "Committee Mao" who fought with him in Jinggangshan is now the leader of the people. But he is still as amiable and respectable as he was more than 20 years ago, and he puts the people at ease.
html On September 30, the day before the National Day ceremony, when Chairman Mao appeared at the reception at Huairen Hall in Zhongnanhai, he recognized Zou Yachun at a glance and said in surprise: " You are Ah Chun from Jinggangshan! "Mao As soon as the Chairman said these words, Zou Yachun burst into tears: "Chairman, I haven't seen you for so many years, I didn't expect you to still remember me!"
Yes, how could Chairman Mao forget that little girl from Jinggangshan in the past? She risked her life to Here’s the little hero who sent messages via in the Red Army!
11 I went to Jinggangshan and met Chairman Mao for the first time
In October 1927, a major event happened in the Jinggangshan area on the border of Hunan and Jiangxi: Chairman Mao led more than a thousand soldiers who participated in the Autumn Harvest Uprising to Jinggangshan and opened up a red base. In this team, there is a little girl who is only 11 years old. Although she is young, she has already made up her mind to become a staunch revolutionary and follow Chairman Mao to make revolution.
This little girl is Zou Yachun. In February 1916, Zou Yachun was born into a poor family in Yanling County, Hunan. Zou Yachun's family was extremely poor. They were so poor that they lacked clothes and clothes. Even having a full meal was a luxury.
Because the family had so many children that they could no longer feed them, the Zou family’s parents had to give away several of their children one after another. Zou Yachun is no exception. When she was 8 years old, her parents sent her to a wealthy family to be a child bride.
In the old society, the status of child brides was extremely low. They were said to be wives, but in fact they were just free labor. Since the day she got married, Zou Yachun has been working hard every day, and his young hands soon developed calluses. But even so, as long as her husband's family didn't go well, she would be beaten severely, and her life would be miserable.
But Xiaoyachun did not lose heart. In 1926, with the vigorous development of the Farmers' Association, she joined the Children's League, often carrying out sentries and propaganda for the Farmers' Association behind her husband's back. Unfortunately, one time, she was caught by her mother-in-law and beaten so severely that Xiaoyachun's skin and flesh were immediately torn.
Being bullied this time made Zou Yachun see through the "cannibalism" of the old society. Therefore, when Chairman Mao led the Autumn Harvest Uprising troops to pass by Yanling, this 11-year-old girl resolutely joined them and completely got rid of that Cruel in-laws.
There are not many soldiers in Jinggangshan, only more than a thousand, and there are even fewer young female soldiers, only a few. Therefore, when Zou Yachun stood guard for the troops, he naturally attracted Chairman Mao's attention.
The first conversation between the two men was in early 1928. Chairman Mao called Zou Yachun to his side and asked her kindly: "Little girl, what is your name and where are you from?"
Zou Yachun shyly replied: "My name is Zou Yachun, I am from Yanling, everyone calls me Ah. Chun, she is 12 years old this year. "A Chun, what a good name!" Chairman Mao nodded, and then asked her: "Are you afraid of participating in the revolution at such a young age?" "Not afraid!" answer.
Chairman Mao was very satisfied after hearing this. He patted Zou Yachun's shoulder gently and said with a smile: "Ah Chun, good job!"
Although Zou Yachun was young, he had done a lot of work. During the day, she would go down the mountain with the soldiers to fight against the local tyrants to divide their fields. At night, she would carry a red-tasseled gun and stand sentry in the dark night. She also did not forget to study. Every time Chairman Mao set up a lecture hall to explain the revolutionary principles and situation to the comrades, she would always participate and listen with great interest in the audience. Chairman Mao also liked this thoughtful and dedicated girl very much. He would take care of her and ask about her life from time to time.
Traveled hundreds of miles, risking their lives to deliver messages to the Red Army.
After the establishment of the Jinggangshan Revolutionary Base , the Red Army opened up a number of red bases on the borders of Hunan and Jiangxi. Guidong, Hunan, was one of them.
Once, Xiao Ke's troops wanted to send a very crucial letter to the party organization in Guidong . However, several Red Army leaders had difficulties regarding the candidates to deliver the message.
Jinggang Mountain is more than a hundred miles away from Guidong. The road is mostly mountainous and difficult to walk. Under normal circumstances, letters sent from Jinggangshan to Guidong are delivered by liaison officers. However, the revolutionary situation at that time was grim. The Kuomintang troops were "encircling and suppressing" the Red Army, and bandits were rampant in the mountains. Once the liaison officer was caught, the consequences would be disastrous.
After much thought, the leaders of the Red Army assigned this arduous task to Zou Yachun, who was only 12 years old. Zou Yachun did not refuse and said decisively: "Please rest assured, chief, I will definitely complete the task!"
After receiving the task, Zou Yachun simply packed up, wore shabby clothes, a pair of old straw sandals, prepared some dry food, and set off. . She acted smartly and had already made plans. If she met a white bandit, she would lie that she was a beggar on the run to avoid being hunted by the enemy.
Along the way, Zou Yachun was careful and chose uninhabited mountain paths to avoid encountering the Kuomintang troops. However, at night, it suddenly started pouring rain in the mountains, with no intention of stopping. Zou Yachun was soaked in the rain. In order to protect the letter in her arms, she ignored the fact that she was soaked. She tightly covered the letter with her hands, hunched over and gritted her teeth as she walked forward.
It rained heavily for three days in a row. Zou Yachun ran out of dry food and could only pick some wild fruits to eat. Three days later, when she delivered the letter to Guidong, her feet had been worn out, her straw sandals were soaked with blood, and her face was cut several times by thorns. It is not difficult to imagine what kind of suffering this little warrior went through.
When they learned that Zou Yachun risked his life to deliver a message to the Red Army, the leaders of Guidong were very moved and praised Zou Yachun: "Well done, little comrade!"
Zou Yachun
was unfortunately captured and continued the revolution
In January 1929, Chairman Mao led the Jinggangshan troops to marched into southern Jiangxi and opened up a new base. From that day to 1951, Zou Yachun never saw Chairman Mao again.
After the main force of the Red Army left, Chiang Kai-shek launched 30 regiments of troops to launch an "encirclement and suppression" campaign against the Fifth Red Army and Wang Zuo's troops of the Fourth Red Army who stayed in Jinggangshan. The Fifth Red Army led by Peng Dehuai had only a thousand men. Even though the soldiers took the lead and fought bravely, they were defeated because the enemy was too powerful and were forced to evacuate from Jinggangshan.
At that time, Zou Yachun was temporarily transferred to the Red Army Hospital, and together with more than a dozen female soldiers, he took care of his injured comrades. Some soldiers were missing arms and legs and were seriously injured. With tears in his eyes, Zou Yachun washed and fed the wounded, excreted and urinated without complaining.
At the same time, Zou Yachun, like his comrades, faces danger at any time, and everyone who survives is a warrior. In his later years, Zou Yachun recalled that once, in order to force the Red Army out of the mountains and forests, the enemy did not hesitate to use a dirty trick - setting fire to the mountains. In an instant, the forest was ablaze, and the flames spread out dozens of meters away. Zou Yachun's left leg was burned, leaving a permanent scar.
In 1930, the Fifth Red Army moved to Wudoujiang River. During the march, Zou Yachun unfortunately fell behind and was caught by the Kuomintang troops and imprisoned in a pig pen.
The enemy saw her young age and tried to find a breakthrough from her, so they asked: "Where are the Red Army going to move?"
No matter how the enemy coerced and lured her, Zou Yachun refused to let go, insisting that he was a common man and was not wanted by the Kuomintang. He grabbed it from the ground. Seeing that she didn't speak, the enemy immediately used cruel torture and beat her for five days and five nights, but they still couldn't get even a word out of her mouth.
Three years later, Zou Yachun, who was bruised and dying, was thrown down the mountain by the enemy. Fortunately, she was lucky enough to be discovered by Guo Guangchun, a farmer living at the foot of the mountain, who rescued her home.
Guo Guangchun is a single man. He developed an admiration for Zou Yachun in the process of getting along. He admired her even more after learning that she was a female soldier of the Red Army. Zou Yachun was also grateful for the other person's life-saving grace, but she was bent on revolution, so she had to tell the other person: When I find the organization, I will come back and marry you.
But at this time, the Fifth Red Army had already left and expanded into the Third Army of the First Red Army in the Central Soviet Area. Zou Yachun was completely unaware of all this, and he didn't know where to look for it. As a last resort, she had to return to Jinggangshan and continue her guerrilla war.
During this period, she did not forget her promise to Guo Guangchun, and soon after, the two got married. After getting married, Guo Guangchun felt distressed when he saw his wife's injured left leg, and asked her: "You have been working in the revolution for so many years, don't you feel bitter?"
Zou Yachun smiled and replied: " It's not bitter at all. In the army, my comrades all treated me like a relative, and I didn’t feel any pain at all!”
When Jiangxi was liberated in 1949, Zou Yachun participated in the celebrations and cried for a long time after returning home. Only she knows how difficult it was for her to do so much work in Jinggangshan during her 22 years.
After the founding of New China, Zou Yachun was appointed as the director of the Suichuan County Civil Affairs Bureau Office and continued to work at the grassroots level. She once thought that working for the people was the happiest thing, but she didn't expect that an even bigger surprise was waiting for her.
was invited by Chairman Mao, and she picked two sacks to go to Beijing.
In September 1951, Zou Yachun received a letter from Beijing. Just looking at the cover, Zou Yachun felt that the letter was not simple. It read: Jiangxi Zou Yachun accepted it and signed it as the Central People's Government. When
opened the envelope, something even more surprising happened to Zou Yachun. It was an invitation from Chairman Mao. The content was: would hold a reception at Huairen Hall at 7:00 pm on September 30, 1951. Please come and visit us.
Zou Yachun read this letter over and over again, tears falling unconsciously, she couldn't help but sigh: "The Communist Party has not forgotten me, Chairman Mao has not forgotten me..."
Soon , the news that Chairman Mao invited Zou Yachun to Beijing to participate in the National Day Ceremony spread in Suichuan County. Only then did everyone know that "Director Zou", who had always been low-key, actually followed Chairman Mao in the revolution in Jinggangshan. I admire her even more.
When they learned that Zou Yachun was about to come to Beijing, the local people took out the best tea, dried fish and other local specialties from home and sent them in large and small packages to her home, hoping that she could take them to Beijing and give them to their beloved Chairman Mao.
Zou Yachun knew that this was the wish of the people of Jiangxi, and agreed immediately. She said to the villagers: " Please don't worry, when I go to Beijing, I will personally hand over these things to Chairman Mao. Don't worry!"
Because there were so many local specialties, Zou Yachun packed two large sacks, carried them on a pole, and took a car to Beijing.
html On September 30, the night before the National Day ceremony, Zou Yachun met Chairman Mao who was thinking about him day and night at a reception held in Huairen Hall. Seeing the familiar and friendly figure of "Commissioner Mao", she couldn't restrain her inner excitement. walked quickly forward, held Chairman Mao's hand tightly, and shouted: "Chairman!"Chairman Mao. He didn't react. He was stunned for a moment and asked: "This lesbian, are you..."
Before Zou Yachun could reply, the chairman thought of something, patted his head and said excitedly: " You are Ah Chun from Jinggangshan !”
Chairman recognized himself! Zou Yachun was so excited that he responded loudly: "Chairman, I haven't seen you for so many years, I didn't expect you to still remember me!"
Then, Chairman Mao invited Zou Yachun to sit down and asked her about her situation after the separation. When he learned that she was arrested and imprisoned, and it took her three years to escape from the devil's cave, the chairman was filled with emotion and said: " Achun, you have suffered, you are such a good person!"
On October 1, Zou Yachun and People of all ethnic groups participated in the grand National Day ceremony. After the ceremony, she followed Chairman Mao's instructions and lived in Beijing for three months. During this period, she climbed the Great Wall, visited the Forbidden City and major factories, and truly felt the growing power of New China.
On October 7, Zou Yachun accepted Chairman Mao's invitation and watched Yue opera "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai" together. After the performance, Zou Yachun handed over all the two sacks of local specialties he brought from his hometown to Chairman Mao.
Chairman Mao was very moved when he learned that this was a collective effort by the people of Jiangxi. He asked: "How are the people in the old district?"
Zou Yachun replied: "Chairman, don't worry, everything is fine in the old district!"
Returned to Jiangxi from Beijing Later, Zou Yachun continued to work at the grassroots level. Although she never saw Chairman Mao again, she carefully kept the souvenirs she brought back from Beijing, including a tea bowl she used and the tickets for the Shaoxing opera, and kept them for 58 years.
In 2009, Zou Yachun completed his 93-year-old life and passed away. Although the old Red Army has gone far away, the red flame will never be extinguished and will be passed down from generation to generation.
