Li Zhong, formerly known as Li Shengxi and written by Yinxia, was born in Shuangfeng, Hunan in 1898. He was the first worker's party member in the history of the Chinese Communist Party.
When Li Zhong was studying in the countryside, he was influenced by revolutionary ideas and disliked the old school and pursued the new school. In the autumn of 1913, he signed up for the Hunan Provincial No. 1 Normal School and was successfully admitted. After entering the school, he met Mao Zedong, Cai Hesen, Luo Xuezhan and other classmates. Under their influence, Li Zhong not only worked hard on his homework, but also actively participated in social activities.
During his time at school, Li Zhong assisted Mao Zedong to lead a student club. In November 1917, under the auspices of Mao Zedong, the Xueyouhui organized a night school for workers. The students were divided into two classes, Class A and Class B. Li Zhong was the administrator of Class B. Many workers in some factories near the school knew him well and called him affectionately. As "Mr. Lee". Through the Workers’ Night Study, Li Zhong gained initial experience in contacting workers and established an initial relationship with the working class.
After graduating from the first division, Li Zhong first taught in the primary school attached to the school, and soon went to help an antique shop in Shanghai.
In early 1920, Chen Duxiu left Beijing and arrived in Shanghai. Li Zhong, who has long admired him, often visits him. Under the influence of Chen Duxiu, Li Zhong accepted more revolutionary ideas and quickly grew into an advanced youth with a preliminary Marxist consciousness. He quit his helper and transferred to the Jiangnan Shipyard, working extensively while contacting the masses of workers extensively. In August 1920, the Communist Party of China initiated group was established in Shanghai. Li Zhong was the only Worker Party member in the organization and the first Worker Party member in the history of the Communist Party of China. Entrusted by the Shanghai sponsoring group of the Chinese Communist Party, Li Zhong and Chen Wenhuan, a worker at Yangshupu Power Plant, jointly initiated preparations for the establishment of the first trade union organization in the history of the Chinese Communist Party: Shanghai Machinery Trade Union.And set up Shanghai Machinery Union Yangshupu Office in Yangshupu. In 1923, there were four to five hundred union members. With the vigorous development of the Shanghai labor movement, with the efforts of Li Zhongzhong, the Jiangnan Shipyard and Yangshupu, where factories were relatively concentrated, became the center of the Shanghai labor movement and the birthplace of the modern labor movement.

On September 26, 1920, he published "A Worker's Manifesto", expounding the Marxist view of "the world's proletarians unite". This manifesto has been studied by historians. The world is widely cited as a precursor to the awakening of the working class.

On July 9, 1951, Li Zhong unfortunately died in Nan County, Hunan on his way to Beijing at the age of 54.
