is located in Xiangji Temple in Chang'an District, Xi'an, Shaanxi. It is one of the eight famous Fanchuan monasteries in the Tang Dynasty and one of the "Eight Buddhists" in my country. It was built in 681 AD and was the first dojo after the official establishment of the "Pure Land School" of Buddhism in my country. The Xiangji Temple is solemn and tidy, large in scale, and elegant. More than 50 years after it was built, it suffered a huge disaster and was almost destroyed. However, Xiangji Temple continued its life for the Tang Dynasty for 150 years.
In the late Kaiyuan period, the country became stable, and Tang Xuanzong gradually lost his spirit of seeking governance. He handed over the power of government to Li Linfu and Yang Guozhong successively. He was addicted to pleasure, which led to more corruption in politics, and the greater power of the vassal prince, which gave An Lushan a chance. On December 16, 755, An Lushan raised troops in Fanyang on the pretext of being summoned to challenge Yang Guozhong. Soon, the rebels took control of Hebei. When officials from Taiyuan and other places reported on Anlushan's rebellion, Tang Xuanzong didn't believe the righteous son would rebel at all. He thought it was a lie made up by people who hated Anlushan, and he did not send troops to suppress it in time. Six days later, Tang Xuanzong believed that An Lushan was really rebelling, and sent Feng Changqing, Gao Xianzhi and others to lead the army.
Soon, Tang Xuanzong heard the false accusation of the villain and beheaded the two generals Feng Changqing and Gao Xianzhi. The Tang Dynasty, which had no good generals, was quickly defeated, and Chang'an also fell. Tang Xuanzong took Concubine Yang to flee, the soldiers launched a mutiny in Maweipo, Concubine Yang was killed, and Emperor Xuanzong of Tang entered Shu. On the thirteenth day of the seventh lunar month in 756, Crown Prince Li Heng took the throne by himself in Lingwu. It was for Tang Suzong to order Guo Ziyi and others to crusade against the rebels and recover lost ground. After
was murdered and seized by his son An Qingxu in Anlu Mountain, Tang Suzong decided to retake Chang'an first. In April 757, he appointed Guo Ziyi as the deputy marshal of the world's soldiers and horses, and recovered Chang'an and Luoyang. In May, the Tang army was frustrated when attacking the clear canal west of Chang'an and retreated to martial arts. On August 23, Tang Suzong hosted a banquet for the generals and decided to attack Chang'an in a big way. On September 12, Guo Ziyi led 150,000 Tang troops and 4,000 Huihe troops to advance to Chang'an.
On the 27th, Tang Jun arrived in the north of Xiangji Temple in the west of the city. They learned the lesson of being flanked by the rebels in Qingqu and failed, strengthened the flanking cover, increased their deployment in depth, and divided them into three parts: the front, middle, and rear army. The 100,000 rebels were on the north side of the Tang Army, waiting in full battle. The rebel general Li Guiren provoked, and Tang Qian’s army faced him and successfully repelled him, all the way to the front of the rebels. The rebels counterattacked with all their strength, the front army retreated slightly, and the rebels took advantage of the situation and approached. The Tang army couldn't resist it, and the rebel army robbed Tang army's weapons in the chaos. The former commander Li Siye saw his soldiers collapsed and shouted: "To entice the enemy with his body today, and die without regret!" After speaking, he took off his shirt, bare his chest, holding a long knife in his hand, and rushed towards Enemy group. He killed dozens of rebels in a row. Seeing the general's bravery, other soldiers held their ground. Li Siye immediately rectified the formation and led the former army with a long knife, pushing forward like a wall, invincible.
This war was extremely cruel, and we all know that it is rare for the soldiers and horses to save his generals by being shot in the brow bone by an arrow of the enemy. The drooping eyelids obscured his vision, he drew out the arrow, tore off his eyelids, bloody face, still insisting on fighting. After the fine cavalry on the east side of the rebels attempted to attack the side of the Tang army, they were discovered. The 4000-round He cavalry wiped out most of them, and then flanked the An army back and forth with the main force of the Tang army. The two sides fought around Xiangji Temple from noon to evening, and Tang Jun won a complete victory. The battle lasted only 4 hours, but the Tang army wiped out 60,000 rebels, and the rebel generals such as Li Guiren had to lead the remnants to withdraw eastward overnight. On the 28th, Tang Jun recovered Chang'an.
Tang Suzong couldn't help crying when he learned that Chang'an had recovered. The victory of Xiangji Temple greatly encouraged Tang Jun's confidence. The Tang army was defeated steadily before, and Tang's morale was very low. However, the victory of this battle allowed them to regain their morale and laid the foundation for the subsequent complete elimination of the rebels, allowing the Tang Dynasty to continue its rule for more than 100 years.
