Chairman Mao and Chiang Kai-shek are the leaders of the Communist Party of China and the Kuomintang respectively. The two are destined to be the enemy of Maimang.
But in 1975, Chiang Kai-shek passed away. When Chairman Mao learned about it, he did not appear very happy. Instead, he responded with three words flatly: "I know."

Chairman Mao's old rival is no longer around. Why did Chairman Mao behave so unexpectedly?
In Chairman Mao’s mind, what kind of person was Chiang Kai-shek?
Disputes between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party
In 1927, after the death of Mr. Sun Yat-sen, Chiang Kai-shek launched a series of actions such as the "April 12" counter-revolutionary coup.
Chiang Kai-shek's ambition is obvious. He, like Yuan Shikai, wants to establish his own family dynasty under the banner of revolution.
On March 24, 1927, after the Northern Expeditionary Army captured Nanjing, they were attacked by the Yangtze River Chuying and US warships. Chinese soldiers and civilians suffered heavy casualties.
But this incident not only failed to make a clean break between Chiang Kai-shek and the counter-revolutionary forces, but pushed him astray.
On the 26th of the same month, Chiang Kai-shek organized several secret meetings in Shanghai with the leaders of the Youth Gang, the Jiangsu and Zhejiang plutocrats, and the imperial powers.
Finally in early April, Chiang Kai-shek began to plan a violent "purge of the party."

Chiang Kai-shek
In Shanghai on April 12, 1927, gray clouds covered the entire city, and the originally bustling streets were immersed in blood and terror.
Youth gang gangsters armed with weapons, pretending to be workers, brutally and brutally attacked the workers' pickets. After that, the 26th Army of the National Revolutionary Army pretended to mediate, but in fact confiscated the weapons and equipment of the workers' pickets.
html On October 13, Shanghai workers and citizens organized tens of thousands of people to take to the streets to protest. The slogan "Give me back my fellow workers" resounded throughout the sky.But Chiang Kai-shek's men were all heartless wolves. When the parade reached Baoshan Road , the infamous 26th Army suddenly joined in and poured bullets without eyes at the dense crowd.

Chiang Kai-shek
In the end, more than a hundred innocent people lost their lives and countless others were injured.
By the 15th, more than 300 people had been killed, more than 500 people had been arrested, and more than 5,000 people were missing.
This is just one of a series of counter-revolutionary coups, and there are also "party purges" in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Guangxi and other places.
Chiang Kai-shek and his minions, after gaining power, colluded with the reactionary forces and violently persecuted the Communist Party and other revolutionary and progressive groups. For their own selfish interests, they aided the tyrants and harmed their compatriots, leaving behind Dr. Sun Yat-sen and the spirit of the May Fourth Movement.
I smiled at the sky with my sword across the sword, leaving behind both liver and gallbladder
In these white baptisms, although Chairman Mao escaped with a bloody mouth, the sacrifices of his revolutionary comrades made him feel disappointed and resentful.
On April 6, 1927, Li Dazhao hid in the Russian Embassy to evade pursuit, but Zhang Zuolin colluded with imperialist forces, broke into the embassy, and arrested Li Dazhao.

Li Dazhao
After Comrade Li Dazhao was imprisoned, he suffered even more torture. However, from beginning to end, Li Dazhao did not reveal a word of information that was not beneficial to the Communist Party of China.
In addition to Li Dazhao, there are also Chen Yannian, the eldest son of Chen Duxiu.
Chen Yannian was a staunch and outstanding Communist Party member. For the sake of the Chinese revolution, he even stood up against the right-leaning capitulationism of his father Chen Duxiu.
Chairman Mao once commented that Chen Yannian is a rare talent.
But such a good comrade was arrested and imprisoned on June 26, 1927, and died heroically on July 4, also in Chiang Kai-shek's "Purge" at the age of 29.

Chen Yannian
Before Chen Yannian was arrested, Chen Yannian was swimming against the current of white terror. At that time, the "April 12" massacre had just occurred in Shanghai. Chen Yannian was ordered to go to Shanghai to find his lost comrades, but unfortunately he was arrested.
When being escorted to the execution ground, Chen Yannian walked a bloody road with his feet shackled. Before the execution, he shouted: "Revolutionaries are aboveboard and can only die standing up!"
The whole land of China was covered with white snow in mourning. They were also brutally murdered, and Xiao Chunv also died heroically.
Xiao Chunv, formerly known as Xiao Qiu, is a tough guy. Chunv is his pen name, which comes from Qu Yuan , to express his love and responsibility for the country.
Chairman Mao once evaluated him, saying that he was the best teacher in the peasant movement training center.

Xiao Chunv
After the "April 12" massacre, Xiao Chunv was filled with grief and anger. She used the pen in her hand day and night to point at Chiang Kai-shek's nose in newspapers and magazines.
In the end, due to overwork, his lung disease worsened, and he fell on the hospital bed.
But the reactionaries didn't care about this. They rushed directly into the hospital, roughly and savagely picked up Xiao Chunu, who had not yet recovered, from the hospital bed, and threw her into the cold Nanshitou Prison.
On April 22, 1927, Xiao Chunu died. Before she died, she shouted: "Communists are not afraid of death. The Communist Party of China will not die. One day, all your sins will be judged by the people."
She took a long breath to cover her tears, mourning the hardships of the people's livelihood.
Isn't Xiao Chunu, who admires Qu Yuan, the true portrayal of the protagonist in the patriotic poet Qu Yuan's " Li Sao "?

Chairman Mao
These incidents, one after another, all left Chairman Mao with cuts and scars in his heart.
If the Chinese Communist Party doesn’t stand up, how can it comfort the souls of the 300,000 heroes who have passed away? If the Chinese Communist Party doesn’t stand up, how can it be worthy of the people whose families have been destroyed? If the Chinese Communist Party doesn’t stand up, how can it let these proud men of heaven rest in peace!
Chairman Mao, who escaped from the tiger's mouth, understood that it is useless to use a pen, words, or a bodhisattva heart!
Then the great man said that: "Political power comes from the barrel of a gun!"
The five-star red flag was planted all over the land of China
On July 15, 1927, Wang Jingwei also joined the anti-communist team, and the Chinese nation returned to the war-torn era.
Chiang Kai-shek and Wang Jingwei were once followers of Sun Yat-sen, but under the coercion and inducement of the reactionary forces, they both became eternal sinners who pushed China into the pit of fire again.

Chiang Kai-shek
On August 1, 1927, the Communist Party of China and some Kuomintang leftists launched the Wuchang Uprising. The lion of the Chinese revolution took its first bite at the Kuomintang reactionaries. After
, Chairman Mao was sent to Changsha, Hunan to lead the Autumn Harvest Uprising.
In the Autumn Harvest Uprising led by Chairman Mao himself, the banner of the Communist Party of China was its own and no longer the banner of the Kuomintang.
Chairman Mao walked among the large troops, once again full of heroism and high spirits, and wrote a song "Xijiang Moon Autumn Harvest Uprising".
Although the uprising ended in failure, it helped Chairman Mao improve his military thinking.
After Chiang Kai-shek saw the tenacity and ferocity of the
Red Army, he no longer used pure force to clean up, but tried to recruit people under the guise of
min's and uniting the people.
Li Kenong
Chiang Kai-shek was a person that others did not understand, but Chairman Mao knew very well.
When CCP representatives Li Kenong and Zhang Xueliang were negotiating, Chairman Mao told Li Kenong that Chiang Kai-shek was selling dog meat over sheep's heads, so don't be fooled.
From the Xi'an Incident to the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Chairman Mao never gave Chiang Kai-shek a touch of his "barrel of a gun". Even if Hu Shi and Stalin tried to persuade him, it would be useless. The Red Army has always been the Red Army of the Communist Party of China.
Chiang Kai-shek later asked Chairman Mao to negotiate in Chongqing. Chairman Mao knew that there were tigers in the mountains, so he preferred to go to the tiger mountains to fight for all opportunities for peace for the Chinese nation, even at the cost of sacrificing himself.
Chiang Kai-shek also "lived up to expectations". Before Chairman Mao left Chongqing, he ordered his troops to attack the areas already occupied by the Red Army.

Deng Xiaoping
The Central Military Commission issued the order with tears in his eyes, Deng Xiaoping and Liu Bocheng commanded the troops to annihilate the invading Kuomintang army.
In the end, the Kuomintang's attacking troops and their reinforcements were all annihilated. General Shi Zebo was captured alive, and the Shangdang Campaign ended.
The heroic performance of the Red Army gave Chairman Mao an opportunity. Chiang Kai-shek could only let Chairman Mao go. Even if the Hongmen Banquet was held now, it would be meaningless. Without trump cards, there would be no showdown, otherwise he would suffer greater losses.
The king of Chu stayed in Chu, and the king of Han returned to Han. From then on, it was a tit-for-tat confrontation between the southern and northern expeditions.
In March 1947, the Kuomintang air force bombed Yan'an, officially igniting the war between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party.
After the battle of crossing the Yangtze River, China changed the world.
As Tiananmen sounded, Chairman Mao solemnly announced that the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China was established, and the fierce competition between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party also officially came to an end.

Founding Ceremony
Chairman Mao and Chiang Kai-shek fought for so many years. In the end, Chairman Mao became the leader of China's largest party and the first leader of New China, while Chiang Kai-shek was defeated and retreated to Taiwan.
But the two are not mortal enemies. They have struggles and cooperation. In some aspects, the two can reach a consensus.
In 1955, the Bandung Conference was held. The People's Liberation Army, which had just finished fighting the Korean War, originally planned to solve the Taiwan issue. However, due to changes in the world situation, the central government decided to change its policy towards Taiwan.
First Premier Zhou proposed "peaceful liberation through negotiation" to the Taiwan authorities. Then Chairman Mao publicly extended a friendly olive branch and proposed policies such as "patriotic family" and "freedom of coming and going".
But US imperialism is not willing to peacefully reunify China.

Premier Zhou
Hidden deep under the old enemy
In 1957, the United States began to put pressure on the Taiwan authorities and encouraged Chiang Kai-shek to provoke the mainland.
Chiang Kai-shek once again "lived up to expectations" by rejecting Chairman Mao's extended hand and hugging the thigh of the American emperor.
In order to combat the arrogance of Chiang Kai-shek and the United States, the Kinmen artillery battle started.
Chiang Kai-shek originally thought that under the escort of US warships, he would be able to enter uninhabited territory, but who knew that the People's Liberation Army's artillery shells were like eyes, specifically targeting Kuomintang warships.
The United States is also worthy of the name "paper tiger". When it saw the Kuomintang warship being shot, it immediately turned around and ran away.
But this is just the foreplay for Mao and Chiang's cooperation.

Kinmen Artillery Battle
Just when the Kuomintang and the Communist Party were fighting fiercely in Kinmen, on September 30, US Secretary of State Dulles flew to Taiwan to persuade Chiang Kai-shek to abandon Kinmen and Matsu.
But Chiang Kai-shek seemed to be jealous. He did not take the "big thigh" seriously and was determined to fight with the Communist Party in Kinmen and Matsu.
Chairman Mao saw Chiang Kai-shek's thoughts. If the Kuomintang withdraws its troops from Kinmen and Matsu, it will completely cut off contact with the mainland. Under the control of the Americans, China is likely to be divided into two. This is not what Chiang Kai-shek wants.
For this reason, the central government decided to temporarily stop the liberation of Kinmen Island , and issued a Ministry of Defense document stating that if the Kuomintang does not have US military escort, it will stop shelling within seven days.

Chairman Mao
But the most exciting thing is the second manuscript, which brings the scene to a climax.
The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China decided that the People's Liberation Army would not fire artillery on the supply lines of Kinmen on even days, thus giving the Kuomintang in Kinmen a chance to breathe.
The People's Liberation Army fired artillery on a single day, and the Kuomintang fired artillery on two days. This seemingly absurd farce concealed great political wisdom.
As long as the Kuomintang and the Communist Party are still fighting, the United States will not be able to force the Kuomintang to retreat, because this will not only damage the morale of the Kuomintang, but also reduce the prestige of the United States in the world.
With the tacit cooperation between the Communist Party and the Kuomintang, Chairman Mao and Chiang Kai-shek, the United States' splitting China became a dead end.
Chairman Mao and Chiang Kai-shek are old enemies in the eyes of everyone. They once served the Republic of China together, fought for the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, and cooperated to resist foreign enemies. Their relationship is no longer clearly defined by the word "enemy."

Chiang Kai-shek
So, after Chiang Kai-shek passed away, Chairman Mao would say the three words "I know". The bitterness and bitterness of it can only be understood in the heart of the Chairman.
A person will encounter many opponents in his life, and sometimes the opponents are not necessarily enemies. The reason why they collide is not anyone's fault, but they just happen to have opposite positions and conflicting ideas.
But no matter who the opponent is, we must follow our own path, serve the people of the world, and never forget our original aspirations.
