Such thoughts were rooted in Dong Qiwu's heart, and he began to have the idea of breaking away from the Kuomintang and joining the Communist Party.

Dong Qiwu comforted the hearts of the soldiers, and they treated the test of the airport like the enemy. North Korea is severely cold and the soil is hard, so it is not easy to build an airport. Dong Qiwu and others mobilized many soldiers.
When the troops organized the excavation, many soldiers signed up, and there were several girls from the art troupe, who were only eighteen or nineteen years old, and they also signed up, wanting to contribute their own strength!
However, when part of the airport was built, a bomb from the US military came to blow it up. Dong Qiwu, an old revolutionary, was stubborn and waved his hand: "You just explode, let's continue to repair!"
It was with the unremitting efforts of Dong Qiwu and others that our army built an airport, and the plane arrived at the front line, which effectively hit the arrogance of the US Air Force. It can be said that our army can defeat the US army under difficult circumstances, which is inseparable from Dong Qiwu's assistance.
After the victory in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, Dong Qiwu was awarded the rank of general, but he felt that his contribution was very small, and he accepted it at the insistence of Chairman Mao.

If Dong Qiwu's wife repented and Dong Qiwu forgives her, then Dong Qiwu will never forgive her third brother Yu Tangzi.
Dong Qiwu's third brother Yu Tangzi has smoked a lot of opium and relapsed for a while. Dong Qiwu is so angry that he is so angry that he asks Dong Qiwu to arrange a job for him, but Dong Qiwu refuses to agree.
At that time, the news was blocked, and many farmers did not know that opium was a bad thing. Dong Qiwu's mother didn't understand. She only believed that Dong Qiwu refused to arrange work for her third brother. She repeatedly begged Dong Qiwu: "You arrange a job for Yutangzi!"
Dong Qiwu said sternly: "Mom, I hate sucking white face! If the third brother doesn't learn well, it's just a shame for him to arrange things."
Dong's mother thought about it carefully. The money Dong Qiwu often gave her was coaxed by her third brother Yutangzi to buy white face, so she stopped this idea.
Because his wife smoked opium, Dong Qiwu almost killed his wife; because his third brother smoked opium, Dong Qiwu would never arrange work for his third brother. No matter who he is, he always upholds the same strict requirements.
But Dong Qiwu felt that his qualifications were not enough, and this should be granted to more qualified people. Chairman Mao said that Dong Qiwu met this condition and told him not to refuse.

Then, he also served as vice chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC. In March 11989, Dong Qiwu died in Beijing at the age of 90.
