In mid-1992, Zhang Zhen, who had finished his work for a day, was drinking tea in his office, but there was a thud knock on the door outside the door.
"Come in."
"Principal Zhang, the letter from the central government."
Zhang Zhen was quite surprised after reading the letter. After all, he had submitted two retirement applications to the central government. In the letter, according to the instructions of the central government, Comrade Deng Xiaoping considered asking him to come to Military Commission to participate in leadership work at the 14th National Congress.

Zhang Zhen buried his head, pondered for a while, and picked up his pen to write the letter.
"Send this letter back to the central government and tell the people in the central government that I will attend."
So what kind of person is this? Why was it assigned by Deng Xiaoping as the central leadership team?
Zhang Zhen’s Revolutionary Road
On October 5, 1914, Zhang Zhen was born in a peasant family in Changshou Town, Pingjiang County, Hunan Province. As the saying goes, heroes come from troubled times, Zhang Zhen naturally had to do something big in that era.
Zhang Zhen has had different ideas from others since he was a child. His original name was Zhang Zushou. But when he was seven years old, he found a book called "The Complete Biography of Yue" at home.
After reading it, his heart was filled with admiration for Yue Fei . Because Yue Fei's sons all have the word "Yu" on the head, he changed his name to Zhang Zhen to express his hope for Yue Fei.
1926, all parts of the country responded to the call of revolution, and Zhang Zhen's hometown also organized the Labor Boys Group , in which the little Zhang Zhen also served as deputy leader.

Two years later, Pingjiang County organized the Youth Pioneer Team. Zhang Zhen was selected into the Propaganda Department for his outstanding performance and served as the Minister of the Propaganda Department.
He led the Propaganda Department to start patriotic propaganda work against imperialism and anti-feudalism, committed to changing people's thoughts, and received a good red education in the process of revolution.
In May 1930, Zhang Zhen joined the Chinese Communist Youth League , and then joined the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army . In October, Zhang Zhen participated in the battle in Linjiang Town, Jiangxi with his troops. He went in and out of three Linjiang Town , fought bravely in the battle, strictly abide by discipline during rest, and gloriously joined the Communist Party of China.
At this time, Zhang Zhen was only fifteen years old.
In the year, after the "September 18th" Incident, broke out in full swing, and Zhang Zhen was appointed by his superiors as the head of the General Affairs Section of the Eighth Route Army.
The young Zhang Zhen led the troops to actively build and work in Yan Xishan. He often took his troops to help the local residents. Local people like this young and helpful young man.
"The young man is here again."
"Yes, aunt, do you need help today?"
Then Zhang Zhen was sent to Henan as the Chief of Staff of the Henan Provincial Military Department of the Communist Party of China. Zhang Zhen actively trained anti-Japanese armed forces in Henan and led the troops to fight against the Japanese army in Henan. Carry out guerrilla tactics and win the victory of guerrilla battles of all sizes.
In a battle, Zhang Zhen led his troops to encounter Duan Kexiang, a bandit unit. With his personal charm, he led a squad to reach a consensus with their armed forces, and finally even recruited them into the New Fourth Army.

In July 1934, in the fifth anti-"encirclement and suppression" campaign, Zhang Zhen was the acting battalion commander of the Third Battalion of the 10th Regiment of the Red Army at that time. The troops he led were very similar to those of the enemy army.
Zhang Zhen sent his own liaison officer to go deep into the enemy's formation and carry out united front work with the local government. The two sides reached a consensus in exchanges, "The poor do not attack the poor" and agreed to complementary shooting.
When the Imperial Capital Team Blue Clothing Club came up, the enemy fired guns in the sky; in view of the peace of reaching a consensus, both sides even happily held a "gala" without guns in the ravine.
One day, the voice of the White Army suddenly came from the enemy's position:
"Brothers of the Red Army , thank you for your hard work, let's take care of it!"
Zhang Zhen heard the shouts of the White Army, combined with the sound of the other party building roads. He pondered carefully, considering that this might be a hint, a sign of a local attack. While Zhang Zhen asked his troops to make good defense, he applied for support.
Early the next morning, the enemy's troops launched a fierce attack on us. Even though the troops led by Zhang Zhen had already responded in advance, there were too many enemy troops, and our army was defeated and retreated step by step.
Zhang Zhen responded quickly to this and cooperated closely with Qilian. After receiving the order to retreat, Zhang Zhen led a company to support friendly forces after arranging the third battalion. But unexpectedly, on the way, I met an enemy soldier disguised as our army, and the two sides fought fiercely. Zhang Zhen was unfortunately shot and injured in the battle. He had a sudden illness and could only be sent to the rear for treatment.

In the process of Zhang Zhen's cultivation, the political commissar of the division Huang Kecheng heard about Zhang Zhen's record and went to visit Zhang Zhen in person.
"You are Zhang Zhen. In the war on the front line, you are not only not afraid of life and death, but also have your own set of combat methods. The young man performed very well."
He arranged for Zhang Zhen to go to the front after he recovered and served as the combat staff of the 10th Regiment. Zhang Zhen also fought in the subsequent battles and led his troops to complete the Long March road of the construction of the Chinese Red Army. Zhang Zhen also completed his own mental journey on this road, which was also the most difficult and unforgettable youth time in his life.
In February 1946, Zhang Zhen went to the Renci Hospital of Huaiyin due to physical discomfort. His right arm often hurts faintly. After the doctor examined him, he exclaimed that the bullets on Zhang Zhen's body have been there and must be taken out after surgery. After careful consideration, Zhang Zhen finally refused the proposal.
"This bullet has been on you for a long time. If it is dragging, it may be dangerous."
"The situation changes too quickly, and war may break out at any time. If surgery is performed, it may delay the war. Let's calm down and make a decision."
March later, Chiang Kai-shek unilaterally tore up the peace treaty, and civil war broke out. Zhang Zhen then threw himself into the war and forgot that there was still a bullet on his body.
Ten years later, Zhang Zhen, who ended the war, had the chance to take out the bullet. When the bullet was taken out, the war handed over the bullet to his children.
"This is my most precious "legacy."

Construction of New China
On November 9, 1992, at a meeting on the Military Commission, Chairman Jiang pointed out: "The current international situation is developing very rapidly. We must pay close attention to international changes to determine the strategic policy of our army."
After this meeting, Zhang Zhen thought deeply about this issue. After several meetings, he proposed the construction policy of our army, highlighting that in the construction, we should recognize the international situation and integrate high technology into the war. Zhang Zhen’s strategic policy still has application value to this day.
On the morning of September 20, 1994, at the Jianguomen Overpass in Beijing, an active-duty soldier massacred and fired at passing pedestrians with guns. After such a major case, the central government was in an uproar. Zhang Zhen was shocked after hearing about the incident. Immediately led my subordinates to the scene to observe the situation.

Zhang Zhen felt very heartbroken after seeing the bloody situation on the scene. The order was ordered to deal with the matter immediately. then Zhang Zhen followed Yu Yongbo, director of the General Political Department of , to visit the wounded, and cared for those who had not lost their lives.
Then Zhang Zhen went to the army to investigate the situation and quickly found out the truth with the people of the Military Commission. In order to get promoted, this person actually gave gifts to the leader, and the leader had already accepted the gift. However, when this person was arranging to visit relatives, he had an argument with the soldiers and was reported. So the company was censored and the leader returned the gift. The person was unwilling to accept it and drove to Jianguomen to attack and retaliate against the society.
After learning about the situation, Zhang Zhen also found that this company had even received praise from the army. Zhang Zhen was furious and immediately convened a meeting to review the corruption in the army in this regard and rectify the malicious flattery of the military leaders giving gifts.
He solemnly told everyone: "This case is by no means an accident, it is the result of long-term accumulation."
This incident even alarmed Chairman Jiang. When discussing this matter with Chairman Jiang, Zhang Zhen showed deep self-blame. It is because he did not do better in his work as the Military Commission.
On July 20, 1996, a major case of 14 people drowning occurred in Xinjiang. When Xinjiang reported: "Sudden encountering a mountain torrent, it is inevitable."
After hearing the brief report from Xinjiang, Zhang Zhen couldn't help but feel confused. He became suspicious of this matter, so he went to Xinjiang to investigate the matter in person.
doesn’t know if you don’t check it. When Zhang Zhen explained the truth about this in Xinjiang, Zhang Zhen was very annoyed.

During the flood control process, the superiors came to review the work. In order to entertain the leaders, the responsible persons in Xinjiang arranged picnic activities on the flat grassland. However, early the next morning, the flood hit and swept away personnel and supplies, causing losses.
Zhang Zhen immediately recruited people from Xinjiang Military Region to attend the meeting.
"You ask yourself the heart, what if the one who lost his life is his brothers and sisters?"
"And some of you, on the day of the incident, held a dance party, did you still have any feelings?"
Zhang Zhen was furious about this and dealt with all the responsible persons in Xinjiang. This matter not only had a great impact on Xinjiang, but also impulsively attacked the central government and vigorously cracked down on the corruption.
In the early 1980s, some troops opened some factories to meet the needs of the daily army in order to meet the needs of the daily army. In the military's military operation construction, people often gain benefits from it and give themselves a gift.
As early as 1991, Zhang Zhen proposed at a meeting of the Central Military Commission that the army should be divided from production and operation. In the subsequent further implementation, Zhang Zhen further launched the implementation of this proposal.
Finally, on August 20, 1993, Chairman Jiang personally presided over the Standing Committee of the Military Commission and decided that combat troops below the military shall not engage in production and operation.
General Zhang Zhen spent his whole life striving for the construction of the motherland, and even in a high position, he still did not relax his children. He set three rules for his children:
1: At any time, he cannot play his brand, not disclose his relationship with him, and not use his influence to enjoy special care;
2: He is not allowed to accept gifts from any unit or individual;
3: He is not allowed to take vehicles rated to him by the public.
Zhang Zhen strictly demanded his children. Each of his children was very outstanding. They participated in the military construction of the motherland and won a good position in the army by themselves.

Zhang Zhen has been caring for the motherland all his life. Although he misses his hometown very much, he rarely goes back.
In 1961, Zhang Zhen's mother passed away, and Zhang Zhen was extremely sad. However, due to the incomplete construction of New China, Zhang Zhen was busy with his work and could not return to his side to visit his mother, and could only entrust others to fulfill his filial piety.
General Zhang Zhen has been fighting for China all his life, let us salute him!
