On October 5, 1919, Mao Zedong's mother Wen Qimei died in Shaoshan at the age of 53.
When my mother died of illness, Mao Zedong was not in front of the bed. When he brought his younger brother Mao Zetan to the house without stopping, his mother had been in the coffin for two days.
In my later years, Mao Zedong once talked about this with his head nurse. He said: "A long time ago, I mentioned to my mother that I really couldn't bear to see her lying on the hospital bed and felt uncomfortable. I wanted her to always look beautiful in my memory, so I wanted to leave her for a while. My mother agreed, and she has always been understanding. Until now, my mother looks very beautiful in my memory, just like when she was young."

June 1959, Mao Zedong returned to his hometown in Shaoshan again. In this strange and familiar place, he stood in front of his mother's portrait and said to himself as if no one was around: "If it were today, you would not have died."
Just as the next day was light, Mao Zedong got up and stepped on the morning dew and went to his mother's grave to pay his respects. He held a handful of pine branches and placed them gently in front of the tombstone, and then said affectionately: "The predecessors worked hard to enjoy the blessings of future generations." After the condolences, Mao Zedong said to Luo Ruiqing beside him: "We are all thorough materialistic , and we don't believe in ghosts and gods from the bottom of our hearts. But those who gave birth to me and raised me are parents, and those who taught me are comrades and friends. When I come back next time, I will definitely come and see my mother."
Mao Zedong's mother Wen Suqin is the appearance of a traditional Chinese wife and good mother. Throughout Mao Zedong's childhood and adolescence, his mother was the one who had the greatest influence on him.
As an ordinary woman, she worked hard all her life, silently handled housework, treated people simply, and was very compassionate. This affected Mao Zedong as a child and laid an important foundation for his future achievements.
"Shi Sanyizi is the one who wants to do big things"

Wen Qimei was born in 1867 in Tangjiatuo Village, Xiangxiang County, Hunan Province. Her original name was Wen Suqin. Because she ranked seventh in her family, everyone liked to call her Qimei, and gradually no one called her name.
Wenjia is a famous local wealthy family. The national hero of the Southern Song Dynasty Wen Tianxiang is their ancestors. Although the literary family at this time did not have the glory of the Southern Song Dynasty, it was much better than ordinary families.
1885, 18-year-old Wen Qimei married 15-year-old Mao Yichang. As the saying goes: A woman holds gold bricks in her junior year, and this sentence has really come true in the Mao family.

Compared with Wenjia, the Mao family's family's family is much worse. As soon as Wen Qimei arrived at Mao’s family, she showed her excellent character of hard work and managed the family, helping her husband to manage the Mao family in an orderly manner. The neighbors and neighbors often praised the Mao family for finding a good wife.
The second year after getting married, in order to subsidize the family income, Mao Yichang chose to go out to serve in the army. While in the army, Mao Yichang accidentally discovered a way to get rich. After returning home, he started a business, and the life of the Mao family gradually improved.
In Chinese families at that time, it was very common for strict fathers and kind mothers to be honest, and the same was true for the Mao family. Mao Yichang always has a stern face in daily life and has strict requirements on children.

Later, when Chairman Mao talked about his father, he said: "He is like a strict supervisor, and he can't stand me stopping. If there is no account to be kept, he will let me do work. He has a bad temper and often beat our brothers."
In contrast to his father's strictness, his mother Wen Qimei has a gentle personality, just like a "peacemaker" in the family. Whenever the father and son have conflicts, she will always stand up and persuade both parties to sit down and have a good talk. So when Mao Zedong was young, he was very dependent on his mother and would always discuss anything in his heart.
Wen Qimei has never read a book since she was a child, but her vision is very broad. She resisted the opposition and firmly supported the children's reading.

1910, Mao Zedong finished his private school, and at this time there was a disagreement in his family about whether he would continue to go to school. According to his father Mao Yichang's idea, he wanted Mao Zedong to go to the rice restaurant to be an apprentice, so that he could do business with his family when he grew up.
But the young Mao Zedong didn't want this. He had an infinite desire for knowledge in his heart. In this way, a dispute arose between the father and son.
At this time, her mother Wen Qimei stood up. She stood firmly on Mao Zedong's side, contrary to her usual gentle norm. When Mao Yichang raised his objection, she said loudly: "Shi Sanyizi likes to study, and studying can only do great things. If he is really allowed to do business with you for the rest of his life, he will not have much prospect."
But Wen Qimei's words still did not impress the stubborn Mao Yichang. In a helpless way, she brought Mao Zedong to invite all the elders in the family. Everyone put pressure on Mao Yichang, and then he agreed to let Mao Zedong continue to go to school.

When Mao Zedong embarked on the road to study, Wen Qimei looked at his figure gradually moving away, her eyes were filled with tears, and she turned her head to say to Mao Yichang: "You wait, Shi Sanyizi is a person who does big things and will definitely make a name for himself."
1918, Mao Zedong received an invitation from his mentor Yang Changji and went to Beijing to continue his studies. In Beijing, Mao Zedong not only learned knowledge, but also found love. It was also during this period that the young Mao Zedong strengthened the revolutionary cause he fought for throughout his life.
However, just after the craze for studying in France started, news that my mother Wen Qimei was seriously ill suddenly came. While in Beijing, looking at his hometown from afar, Mao Zedong shed tears several times.
On April 5, 1919, when the last group of students studying in France boarded the boat, Mao Zedong immediately rushed back to Changsha. At this time, my mother was accompanying her younger brother to move into the home of Wang Jifan . Just as they were discussing whether to stay, Mao Zedong pushed the door open.

The torture of illness made my mother aged a lot. Looking at her mother's face, Mao Zedong felt very guilty. Before he could speak, he fell to his knees.
Seeing his son come back, a long-lost smile appeared on Wen Qimei's face. She touched her son's newly grown hair, looked at his bright eyes, and smiled even happier.
Because the previous study in France was delayed for too long, Mao Zedong's original position in the school was removed from the school, and he had nothing to do at this time. But in order not to make his mother worry about him, Mao Zedong still lie with his ninth brother Wang Jifan.

Mao Zedong said to his mother: "I just came back from another place and I still have a lot of things to be busy with. I can only feel wronged that you live in Brother Jiu's house first." What my mother is most worried about is that her son has nothing to do. When she heard that he is very busy, she felt much more relieved.
After comforting my mother's emotions, Mao Zedong went out. Walking on the unfamiliar street, he, who had always been confident, became confused.
At this moment, Mao Zedong saw a soldier beating a small vendor and was about to stop him. Suddenly he heard someone shouting, "Runzhi, Runzhi."

Mao Zedong looked back and saw that it was his classmate Zhou Shizhao. After a few greetings, Mao Zedong calmly told him about his predicament. When Zhou Shizhao heard this, he immediately said that this was not a problem.
Not long after, Zhou Shizhao found Mao Zedong a job as a primary school teacher. Although the school’s staff dormitory is very small, for Mao Zedong’s family, there was finally a place to shelter from the wind and rain, and the whole family was very happy.
Mao Zedong returned to his side, and Wen Qimei's condition seemed to have improved a lot. On weekdays, she never mentions her body in front of her son, and always asks questions while grasping Mao Zedong's work. However, Mao Zedong was very worried about his mother's condition and said that he would ask her to go to the hospital several times, but she did not agree.

One day, Mao Zedong lied to his mother and said that he would go shopping, but in fact he took her to the hospital for treatment. When she arrived at the door of Xiangya Hospital, her mother realized that she had been fooled by her son, but it was too late to leave, so Mao Zedong carried her into the hospital.
After a careful examination, the doctor called Mao Zedong aside and whispered to him that it was malignant lymphoma and had spread and there was basically no possibility of cure. Mao Zedong was stunned on the spot.
Since learning about his mother's condition, Mao Zedong went crazy and looked for a famous doctor, but the results he got were basically the same. He did not believe in evil and began to read a large number of traditional Chinese medicine books and learned that traditional Chinese medicine is much better than Western medicine in treating chronic diseases. So, Mao Zedong took his mother to find an old Chinese doctor.

But when the doctor said he was helpless, Mao Zedong became soft and suddenly collapsed on the ground, and tears fell on his clothes.
But even though traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine announced that there was no way, Mao Zedong still did not give up. During the time in Changsha, Mao Zedong taught students during the day, while also paying attention to student movement. At night, he was smiling in front of his mother, comforting her while decorating the medicine.
As the weather slowly gets hotter, Wen Qimei can no longer stay and insists on going back to her hometown in the countryside. She always missed the few acres of land at home, and said that there were many trees and many water in the mountains, which was cooler than in the city, and even if she was recuperating, she was better than here.
No matter how reluctant Mao Zedong felt, he finally agreed after his mother insisted. Before leaving, Mao Zedong took his mother and younger brothers to take a photo in the photo studio.

After returning to his hometown, Wen Qimei's condition became more and more serious, and her health became worse and worse day by day. After multiple treatments, the situation has not improved. Finally, on October 5, 1919, Wen Qimei died of illness.
"Before my mother died, she kept calling Shi Sanyizi......... She actually wanted to see you again." Mao Zedong finally failed to see his mother for the last time, and even the last words were learned from others.
That night, Mao Zedong took his younger brother to keep a soul for his mother. Late after night, Mao Zedong wrote the " Mother's Memorial" full of true feelings under the dim oil lamp. The article tells the good qualities of his mother such as thrifty family, understanding, and harmonious neighborhood, and his infinite longing for his mother.

Later, Mao Zedong said in a letter to his friend Zou Yunzhen: "In this world, people are divided into three types: people who harm others and benefit themselves; people who do not harm others and benefit themselves; people who harm themselves and benefit others. My mother Wen Qimei is the last type of person."
Conclusion
Everyone said that Chairman Mao was a ray of light from modern China, which opened a hole in the dark land of China and saved thousands of ordinary people. Then his mother, Wen Qimei, is the guide who guides his life path.
