It was also after the Anting incident that Zhang Chunqiao and Wang Hongwen colluded with each other. In January 1967, they planned the "January Storm" in Shanghai together and seized the command power of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee.
In February 1967, the Shanghai Municipal Revolutionary Committee was established, and Zhang Chunqiao served as the director of the Revolutionary Committee and became the "top leader" of Shanghai. In 1969, after the Ninth National Congress, Zhang Chunqiao was transferred to Beijing. Since then, he has worked in Beijing for a long time and has also served as vice premier and other positions, and has been at the national level.
It is worth mentioning that after the "January Storm", Zhang Chunqiao became famous and held a high position. However, Zhang Chunqiao had always had two heart problems at that time. The first was his party membership issue, and the second was that his wife had betrayed the enemy. In that era when class struggle was the mainstay, especially the second issue, it was related to Zhang Chunqiao's future.
In fact, before the "Nine National Congress" was held, Premier Zhou had specifically requested to investigate Zhang Chunqiao's historical issues. Zhang Chunqiao's party membership is mainly due to the time when he joined the party, but he is not a fake party member. Objectively speaking, his problem is not serious, but his wife, Wenjing, Wenjing, , was captured by the Japanese and rebelled against the Japanese. Logically speaking, as Wenjing's husband, Zhang Chunqiao should not be reused.
In terms of Wenjing’s rebellion, why do you say that Zhang Chunqiao has historical problems? Because Wen Jing was desperate after her rebellion, Zhang Chunqiao was the deputy editor-in-chief of " Jinchaji Daily ". He took Wen Jing in and changed her name and surname, allowing her to stay in the Jinchaji Daily as editor. After that, our party conducted several investigations on the families of cadres. During each investigation, Zhang Chunqiao still covered up this matter for Wenjing even though he knew that Wenjing was a traitor.
At that time, many veteran cadres who worked in Jinchaji Border Region knew about Wen Jing’s rebellion. After the founding of New China, Wen Jing followed Zhang Chunqiao to Shanghai. In order to cover up his wife’s problem, Zhang Chunqiao told Wen Jing not to show up in public. Before and after the Nine National Congress, many people, including Premier Zhou, also reported to Chairman Mao about Zhang Chunqiao’s wife’s problem, but Zhang Chunqiao was safe in the end.
In 1973, our party held the "Ten National Congress" in Beijing. After this meeting, Zhang Chunqiao became a member of the Standing Committee and was promoted to the national level. Premier Zhou knew that Zhang Chunqiao's wife had betrayed. In view of this, he hoped to suspend Zhang Chunqiao's work and make arrangements after the investigation was clear. However, around the Ninth National Congress, Premier Zhou reported Zhang Chunqiao’s problems three times in total, without any explanation.
In September 1973, Premier Zhou thought of another solution. From September 11 to September 17, French President George Pompidou visited China. At that time, there was a stop in Shanghai. Premier Zhou and Deng Yingchao accompanied George Pompidou to visit Shanghai. In the evening, Premier Zhou decided to visit the Municipal Party Committee Courtyard on Kangping Road. Zhang Chunqiao's wife Wenjing also lived there. That night, Premier Zhou did not enter Wenjing's house. Wenjing naturally got the news in advance and waited for Premier Zhou at home, but did not wait. It was Premier Zhou's actions that scared Wen Jing to the point of heart attack and was admitted to the hospital.
The reason why Wen Jing was scared of a heart attack was that she knew that she could not hide her identity as a traitor. After that, the news spread to Beijing. Zhang Chunqiao, who was in Beijing, decided to divorce his wife after learning about it. Zhang Chunqiao had the idea of divorced his wife, and it was not until after this incident that he wrote a divorce application report for his own future and submitted it. In the end, the central government approved Zhang Chunqiao's divorce report. However, because the divorce report was not made public, Zhang Chunqiao still lived with Wen Jing after being released from prison and spent his old age together.
