In September 1976, Chairman Mao's health began to deteriorate sharply. Just as he was dying, his daughter Li Min rushed to his father. Chairman Mao could no longer speak at this time, but his mind was still awake. Facing his daughter, Chairman Mao reached out and made a gesture.
Li Min thought for a long time before she realized that Chairman Mao’s gesture meant roughly longan, and his ex-wife He Zizhen’s nickname is longan . It’s a pity that this revolutionary comrade-in-arms who accompanied Chairman Mao through the most difficult moments could not appear by the Chairman at this time.
Until Chairman Mao’s death, He Zizhen never arrived in Beijing. It was not until three years later that she brought her daughter and son-in-law to Beijing to pay tribute to Chairman Mao’s remains. Why couldn’t He Zizhen come to Beijing before Chairman Mao passed away?

Before the bad news of Chairman Mao’s death came, He Zizhen’s originally fragile health condition had rapidly deteriorated, and even in the end, hemiplegia lost the ability to move. In order to cure the disease, after several twists and turns, I was admitted to Shanghai East China Hospital .
At this moment, the news of Chairman Mao’s death reached He Zizhen’s ears. After learning the bad news, He Zizhen maintained great restraint as soon as possible, but at the same time, she did not close her eyes for two days and two nights in a row.
According to He Zizhen's niece He Xiaoping, everyone was worried that He Zizhen would have major health problems. Although she had divorced after she returned to China from Moscow , Chairman Mao still gave her a lot of care.
He Zizhen often stares at the portrait of the chairman alone. This emotion does not weaken over time, but accumulates more and more. Finally reached its peak in 1976.
The most important thing is that this directly leads to the overall deterioration of He Zizhen's physical health. It was not until 1979 that her physical condition improved, and she finally had the ability to come to Beijing with her daughter Li Min and her son-in-law.

1979, the situation in Beijing had fundamentally improved, and He Zizhen was finally able to realize her wish. Her only purpose in coming to Beijing was to pay homage to Chairman Mao who had gone through the revolutionary years with her.
Whether before or after death, Chairman Mao was He Zizhen's spiritual pillar. When Li Min and his wife accompanied her to the memorial hall, she presented a wreath that had been prepared long ago. The ribbon of the wreath said two lines: "Always inherit your will, comrade-in-arms He Zizhen leads his daughter Li Min and son-in-law Kong Linghua to offer it."
Before the Chairman's face, He Zizhen burst into tears and refused to leave for a long time.
Before 1979, He Zizhen had never been to the capital Beijing. In the most difficult times, she was the heroine of Jinggangshan , and her whole family participated in the revolution.
The three brothers and sisters of the He family in Jinggangshan have made great contributions in the revolutionary struggle of the Communist Party of China and have long been recorded in history. Not only that, in the early days of the revolution, He Zizhen's parents sacrificed their lives because of the revolution, and they were all heroes of the Republic.

With the merits made by He Zizhen and her family for the revolution, it is natural to work and live in Beijing. Moreover, since the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Chairman Mao had proposed the idea of bringing He Zizhen to Beijing. And I have discussed it with An Ying many times, and the latter also believes that "he Zizhen's mother should be taken to Beijing to live as soon as possible."
This matter was originally handed over to He Zizhen's sister He Yi for specific handling. However, just when He Yi sent He Zizhen to Tianjin and planned to transfer it to Beijing, she encountered obstacles from Kang Sheng. Kang Sheng sent someone to spread a message saying that if He Zizhen was sent to Beijing, He Yi would be expelled from the party.
This matter is extraordinary for He Yi. She was originally the wife of martyr Mao Zeqian. She was once arrested by reactionaries in the most difficult period of the revolution. After going through many hardships, she finally returned to the organization.
However, because of being arrested, during previous reviews, some individuals often find out the history of He Yi's arrest and criticize her. In this case, He Yi had to act cautiously. The incident of taking his sister He Zizhen into Beijing was in vain under various obstacles.

For He Zizhen herself, her situation is also very difficult. During a special period, He Zizhen was persecuted for a long time. Many people don’t know that He Zizhen was the only surviving Red Army female soldier who participated in the Autumn Harvest Uprising , so in 1979, He Zizhen was elected as a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
However, when reviewing the archives, I found that it was such a female Red Army soldier who made contributions to the revolution that was actually a black man without any identity files. It is obvious that some people attempt to completely erase He Zizhen from the history of the Chinese revolution, and the sinister intentions are chilling.

In fact, what many people did not notice is that after He Zizhen and Chairman Mao separated in Yan'an, although the two had divorced, Chairman Mao had always cared about her.
1939, when Zhou Enlai and his wife Deng Yingchao went to the Soviet Union for treatment, Chairman Mao asked Zhou Enlai to bring He Zizhen a letter and a box of books, asking her, " I'm fine, I hope you study hard and make progress in politics, and we will be gays in the future."
When the two met again, it was already 1950 and the location was Lushan. The meeting was not made public at the time. After years of separation, I believe the two of them were mixed feelings.
has been mentioned before that, at that time, Chairman Mao planned to let He Zizhen go to Beijing for rest and recuperation, but he was not able to make a move due to obstruction. In the 1960s and 1970s, although He Zizhen was far away from Beijing, she was still hit hard, and the situation began to improve until the Gang of Four fell.

Since 1979, He Zizhen's physical condition has begun to decline again. Under the care of the organization, she was admitted to Shanghai 301 Hospital. At that time, many old leaders and He Zizhen's comrades had visited her in the hospital.
On April 19, 1984, He Zizhen died of illness. On the day the body was cremated, the leaders of the Party and the state went to Babaoshan Cemetery to bid farewell. After the cremation was completed, they found that there were shrapnel left in her ashes from the rain of bullets during the war years.
Finally, after the decision of the party organization, He Zizhen's ashes were placed in No. 1, Babaoshan Cemetery. As a former revolutionary comrade-in-arms of the founding leader, He Zizhen and Chairman Mao experienced the most difficult period of the Chinese revolution. She witnessed the history of the Republic. No matter how many years passed, history could not forget her name.
