Place names are the proper names that people give to each geographical entity. It is a social phenomenon and a product of the development of human society to a certain stage.
Ji'an was called Luling and Jizhou in the past; in the early Yuan Dynasty, it was changed to " Jitai Min'an " with the meaning of " Ji'an ".
Ji'an, the world is rich and the world is full of treasures, and the people are outstanding. It is not only the hometown of the anti-Yuan hero Wen Tianxiang, but also an important base for the Second Civil Revolutionary War.

The county has more than 30 revolutionary memorial sites and scenic spots. The Jizhou Kiln and Benjue Temple Pagoda in Yonghe Township, the Wen Tianxiang tomb and Wen Tianxiang portraits, handwritings and poetic steles in Futian Township are all provincial-level protected cultural relics.

Dunhou Town
is named after Dunhou Village. During the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, Liu Youxin moved here from Jiangling, Jingzhou. village is next to a stream, named Zhentou . It was renamed Duokou in 1931, and means loyalty and honest . During the Qing Dynasty, the three families of Hu, Xiao and Kang moved in.
Dachong Township
is named after the village. This place is located on a larger flat land in the mountainous area ( rush ), hence the name.
Denglong Township
The source is unknown. The author speculates that it is named after the beautiful wish of carp climbing the dragon gate . Anyone who knows you are welcome to add.
Antang Township
is named after the village. The specific source is unknown. The author speculates that has many ponds here, and hopes for peace and tranquility , hence the name.
Guantian Township
is named after its resident. It was called Guanxi during the Ming Dynasty. According to legend, most of the grain fields in this place were owned by the government, and there was a small stream next to it, hence the name.
Zhiyang Township
The source is unknown. The author speculates that this place is located in Shannan, so it is named.
Yongyang Town
is named after the resident. Originally named Caoshi , Song Zhaozheng Hu Yu ( Dongyuan native ) was renamed Yongyang because it was located on the north bank of Heshui ( Ancient people used mountains, south and north to make Yang ) to be called Yongyang. The streets are wide and the market is prosperous. It is a distribution center and commodity circulation center for industrial and agricultural products in nearby counties and townships. It is an important town in the southwest of our county.
In the 36th year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty, a inspection department was established here. From September 28 to 29, 1931, local armed forces cooperated with the Hunan-Jiangxi Independent Division to wipe out a regiment of the invading enemy 28th Division, capturing nearly a thousand people below the regiment commander Bi Weihan.
Tianhe Town
is named after the station. Aocheng Longwen Yuyuan Dynasty built a village. Long Wenyu gave birth to two sons, one living in the north of Shui and the other living in the south of Shui. Just like " Cowherd " and " Weaver Girl " are isolated by Tianhe, so they are named after Tianhe.
Hengjiang Town
is named after the base of Hengjiang Ferry. This place is located on the east bank of Heshui and has a ferry, named after the ferry.
Gujiang Town
is named after the resident. It is called Gujiang because it is close to Lushui and produces " Guzhi ". Later, the shops were set up into a street and renamed Gujiang Street. Huang Song founded the foundation here in the Song Dynasty.

Yonghe Town
is named after the resident. It was the capital of Dongchang County as far away as the Three Kingdoms. " Ji'an County Chronicles " records: " Dongchang City, in today's Yonghe City, was established by the Emperor Wu. The Sui Province was re-established during the Wude period of the Tang Dynasty." During the Song Dynasty, because of the prosperity of Jizhou's kiln industry, it became one of the " Three Towns in the World" at that time. Song Shaoxing Xinwei Jinshi and left prime minister Zhou Bida was born here. " Ji'an County Chronicles " records: "Zhou Xian (shēn), a native of Guancheng, Zhengzhou, Song Xuanhe Zhongtong magistrate Jizhou, because of his family here, his grandson Bida later moved to the city ( today Ji'an City ). It should be that the residents here will always be harmonious and get their name.
Tongping Town
is named after the resident. It is also known as Longping. According to legend, it is the original mountain surround here with many kinds of sycamore trees, hence the name.
Phoenix Town
Source unknown. The author speculates that the terrain here looks like a phoenix, hence the name.
Oilfield Town
is named after its resident. It is named after the abundant production of tea oil.
Aocheng Town
is named after its resident. According to legend, Chu Xiang Sun Shuao built a city here, hence the name.
Meitang Town
is named after Meitang Village. A village was built during the Song Dynasty and was named after the plum blossom trees growing in the pool. Grocery shops began to exist in the Qing Dynasty, and now they have become a local market trading site. The third, sixth and ninth lunar calendar meet the market. In the Song Dynasty, Huang Zhonghuai moved from Shangpi and Dai Yiben to Hechuan Meitian and Wang Yingshao to Ruxing Township Dongtou.
