In 1950, Qujing Special Zone was established, and the special location was located in Qujing County . It has seven counties including Qujing , Zhanyi , Xuanwei , Pingyi, Ma Long (resident in Tongquan Town ), Songming (resident in Songyang Town ), Xundian (resident in Rende Town ), etc.
In 1954, the 6 counties belonging to the former Yiliang Special Zone were Yiliang (resident in Kuangyuan Town ), Luliang , Luoping (resident in Luoxiong Town), Shizong (resident in Danfeng Town ), Luxi , and Lunan Lu were included in the Qujing Special Zone. Xuanwei County is renamed Rongfeng County (resident in Rongcheng Town ); Pingyi County is renamed Fuyuan County (resident in Zhong'an Town ). Qujing Special District has 13 counties under its jurisdiction.
On March 26, 1957, it was changed from Lunan County to Lunan Yi Autonomous County; in the same year, Xundian County was changed from Xundian Hui Autonomous County (station in Rende Town). Qujing Special District has 11 counties and 2 autonomous counties.
In 1958, Zhanyi County was abolished and merged into Qujing County. Qujing Special District has 10 counties and 2 autonomous counties under its jurisdiction.
In 1959, Rongfeng County was restored to its original name Xuanwei County.
In 1960, Malong County was abolished and merged into Qujing County; Shizong County was abolished and merged into Luoping County ; Luxi County was abolished and merged into Mile County; Lunan Yi Autonomous County was abolished and merged into Yiliang County ; Xundian Hui Autonomous County and Songming County were abolished and merged to establish Xundian County (in Rende Town). Qujing Special District has 7 counties under its jurisdiction.
In 1962, three counties of Malong (station in Tongquan Town), Shizong (station in Zhaomin Town), and Songming (station in Songyang Town) were restored. Qujing County was moved from Chengguan Town to Zhanyi Town, and Qujing Special District was under 10 counties.
In 1964, , Huize County , originally led by Dongchuan City, was transferred to Qujing Special Zone. Restore Lunan Yi Autonomous County. Qujing Special District has 11 counties and 1 autonomous county.
Zhanyi County (located in Zhanyi Town) was restored in 1965. Qujing County was moved from Zhanyi Town to Huancheng Town. Qujing Special District has 12 counties and 1 autonomous county.
In 1966, Kuangyuan Town, the resident of Yiliang County, was renamed Dongfeng Town.
In 1970, Qujing Special District was renamed Qujing District, and the area is located in Qujing County. It has 12 counties including Qujing, Xundian, Xuanwei (station in Rongcheng), Huize , Fuyuan (station in Zhong'an Town), Zhanyi, Shizong (station in Danfeng), Luoping (station in Luoxiong Town), Luliang (station in Central Town ), Yiliang, Songming (station in Songyang), Malong (station in Tongquan Town), and Lunan Yi Autonomous County.
In 1979, Xundian County was changed to Xundian Hui and Yi Autonomous County . Qujing area has 11 counties and 2 autonomous counties.
On May 6, 1997, the State Council approved (National Letter [1997] No. 32): (1) Abolish Qujing District and county-level Qujing City , establish a prefecture-level quartz city, and the Municipal People's Government is stationed in Wenchang Street, Chengguan Town, Qilin District, newly established. (2) Qujing City establishes Qilin District and Zhanyi County. Qilin District has jurisdiction over four towns, Chengguan, Sanbao, Yuezhou and Dongshan, and six townships, Huancheng, Zhujie, Yanjiang, Ciying, Xiaoxiang and Xishan, in Qujing City at the former county level. The District People's Government is stationed in Nanning East Road, Chengguan Town. Zhanyi County has two towns in Xiping and Huashan in Qujing City at the former county level, and eight towns in Zhanyi, Panjiang, Baishui , Dapo, Lingjiao, Deze, Yanfang and Bole. The county people's government is stationed in Longhua Xinlu, Xiping Town. (3) Qujing City's jurisdiction over the former Qujing area, Luliang County, , Luoping County, Huize County, Malong County, Fuyuan County, Shizong County, Xundian Huiyi Autonomous County, and the newly established Zhanyi County and Qilin District. The former Qujing area's Xuanwei City's are directly under the jurisdiction of the province.
