From 1958 to 1962, as for today's Xingtai City , there were actually three major changes in administrative divisions at that time. First, in 1958, it merged into 5 major counties ( Xingtai major counties, Julu major counties, Neiqiu major counties, Nangong major counties, and Ningjin major counties), second, it was restored to 1 city and 11 counties in 1961, and third, it was restored to 1 city and 16 counties in 1962.

1958-1960 administrative divisions were obviously the product of the Great Leap Forward era. I wanted to kill two birds with one stone. On the one hand, I responded to the insufficient supply of cities caused by three years of natural disasters through a special zone joint operation. On the other hand, I also wanted to show that it could still be built in a big city in extremely difficult times, but the steps taken were too big. This method obviously could only be a temporary measure. However, when it was restored later, it was restored too thoroughly, which resulted in the fact that this zoning reform in Hebei Province actually gained nothing.

Considering that there are too many small counties and too many counties in various cities in Hebei Province now, taking Xingtai City as an example, it has 18 counties, cities and districts under its jurisdiction, ranking among the top among prefecture-level cities in the country, but its actual area is not large. By May 1961, Xingtai's districts had 12 counties and cities. If they could be preserved to this day, the number of counties and cities under Xingtai would have decreased by 4-5.

htt ml1html When the original Xingtai District was restored in 181961, it was not simply restored according to the original system. It was obviously considered carefully. For example, in 1961, it was only restored into 11 counties. Among them, Xinhe County was originally merged with Ningjin County, but when it was restored, Xinhe County was merged into Nangong County, and part of Nangong County (6 communes including Duan Lutou and Dongjiamiao totaled 126 square kilometers) was included in Qinghe County. These are some reasonable adjustments in details. If it could be retained, I think it would be more reasonable. Unfortunately, in a short year, all of them were restored according to the original system in 1962.
