In the late 1980s, due to the great improvement of cross-strait relations at this time, the mainland and Taiwan could interact with each other, so many families separated from each other took this opportunity to visit their relatives in Taiwan.
In this tide of visiting relatives, there is such a white-haired old man with a very special identity. He is the general of the Kuomintang Qiu Xingxiang nicknamed "Little Chiang Kai-shek".
Since he was defeated and captured in 1948, he has not met his younger brother in Taiwan for more than 40 years! Now that the two sides of the Taiwan Strait have opened up, he decided to take this great opportunity to go to Taiwan and meet his relatives!
Qiu Xingxiang
The feeling of reuniting with relatives and friends is naturally extremely excited, and the Taiwanese authorities also know that Qiu Xingxiang is the confidant general of Chiang Kai-shek , so Chiang Kai-shek's son Jiang Wei-kuo summoned this old subordinate on the day Qiu Xingxiang was about to leave Taiwan.
However, unexpectedly, the results of this meeting were particularly embarrassing! Jiang Weiguo's actions actually annoyed Qiu Xingxiang directly, and Qiu Xingxiang even said to him bluntly: "I am not a beggar, don't imagine sending me like this!"
Then he still turned around and boarded the plane back to the mainland. So what did Jiang Weiguo do at that time that annoyed Qiu Xingxiang? Why is Qiu Xingxiang called Chiang Kai-shek? How did he be captured by us?
Jiang Weiguo
Follower of the Three Principles of the People
Born in 1907, Qiu Xingxiang came from Nandu Town, Liyang, Jiangsu Province. Because his family was still well when he was young, his parents sent him to a local private school.
Maybe it was because he read too many , the Four Books and Five Classics , so his understanding of society at that time was: loyal ministers and loyal masters, filial sons and filial parents!
The idea of loyalty to the emperor and serving the country is deeply rooted in his heart. He will do whatever he can to give his life to a confidant!
Qiu Xingxiang
1925, 18-year-old Qiu Xingxiang was admitted to Whampoa Military Academy with excellent results. After he entered the school, he became sworn disciples with Huang Wei , Luo Ruiqing, Qiu Qingquan and others. Among these people, Qiu Xingxiang is undoubtedly a loyal fan of Chiang Kai-shek.
Previously, Qiu Xingxiang was exposed to the Three Principles of the People. He agreed with Mr. Sun Yat-sen's words and became a follower of Mr. Sun Yat-sen, hoping to serve Mr. Sun Yat-sen.
It’s a pity that he was too young at that time. By the time he could do his best for the revolution, Mr. Sun Yat-sen had already passed away! Mr. Sun Yat-sen's death hit Qiu Xingxiang a big blow, and as Sun Yat-sen's successor, Chiang Kai-shek put Chiang Kai-shek and Mr. Sun Yat-sen in his heart from then on.
Sun Yat-sen
After going to school in Huangpu , Qiu Xingxiang also realized his first dream. Soon after, the freshmen held an admissions meeting. As the principal, Chiang Kai-shek stood on the stage and spoke. When he saw Chiang Kai-shek, Qiu Xingxiang seemed particularly excited.
Chiang Kai-shek also noticed the not-tall Qiu Xingxiang, so he asked Qiu Xingxiang's identity information.
Qiu Xingxiang raised his back and said seriously: "Report to the principal! Student Qiu Xingxiang is from Liyang, Jiangsu Province. He came to study to revitalize China and serve the party and the country."
Chiang Kai-shek
Chiang Kai-shek was very happy after reading it, praising him for being very energetic, and then continued to ask: "What are you here in Huangpu for!"
"Revolution, revolution, or revolution!" Qiu Xingxiang's decisive answer made Chiang Kai-shek quite satisfied, and Chiang Kai-shek asked everyone to learn from him!
This greatly inspired Qiu Xingxiang. Later, every time I saw Chiang Kai-shek, Qiu Xingxiang would greet the principal with such enthusiasm, which also had a deep impression on Chiang Kai-shek.
Chiang Kai-shek
Qiu Xingxiang's enthusiasm soon received rewards: in 1928, after Qiu Xingxiang graduated, Chiang Kai-shek promoted him to the battalion commander of the special agent battalion of Chen Cheng , and Qiu Xingxiang often followed Chen Cheng to meet his principal.
As a loyal believer of Chiang Kai-shek, he naturally has to imitate Chiang Kai-shek in all aspects of life and appearance.
Chiang Kai-shek was a bald man, and Qiu Xingxiang only had bald man, no hair from then on; Chiang Kai-shek did not smoke and rarely drank, so Qiu Xingxiang simply quit smoking and drinking; Chiang Kai-shek was very cunning, spoke seriously, and did not show his emotions. Qiu Xingxiang has a stern face every day since then; more importantly, Chiang Kai-shek liked to wear a black coat, and Qiu Xingxiang also bought the same black coat directly!
Qiu Xingxiang
From pace to speaking habits, Qiu Xingxiang imitated Chiang Kai-shek and imitated in a very good manner. When outsiders saw it, they really thought that Principal Jiang was here, but it was actually Qiu Xingxiang imitating his idol! Over time, everyone laughed at Qiu Xingxiang as "Little Chiang Kai-shek".
However, Qiu Xingxiang is not only good at flattering, he still has real talent and knowledge. In the anti-Japanese battlefield not long later, he quickly showed his military talent.
Jiang Kai-shek's brave combat
After the full start of the Anti-Japanese War , Qiu Xingxiang was ordered to go to Jiangsu to block the Japanese army. The 37th Division of the 18th Army of the Kuomintang where Qiu Xingxiang was located gathered in southern Jiangsu, and Qiu Xingxiang, who came to fight at home, showed his skills here.
Qiu Xingxiang
He arranged defense lines in his hometown Liyang , Yixing , Wujin , and launched a fierce exchange of fire with the Japanese Fifth Division. On the one hand, Qiu Xingxiang let the army withstand from the front, and on the other hand, he broke the troops into pieces. Small troops kept interspersing and harassing the Japanese army.
The Japanese army was troubled by Qiu Xingxiang. At this time, the Kuomintang and the Communist Party cooperated with , and New Fourth Army also sent troops to cooperate with Qiu Xingxiang to fight together. Both sides actually annihilated and injured nearly 10,000 enemies in the battle in this area!
1937, Qiu Xingxiang followed the large army to Luodian, Shanghai to block the Japanese troops. Qiu Xingxiang fought desperately when fighting in Shanghai. He personally came to the front line to observe the enemy positions, and braved the sky of artillery fire to command the army to counterattack.
Qiu Xingxiang
Qiu Xingxiang's 67th Division blocked the Japanese army in Luodian, Shanghai for a full three months, and effectively dragged out the Japanese army's pace. At that time, the Japanese army was about to fight Wuhan Battle . They needed the port of Shanghai to send reinforcements and military supplies to the Wuhan area through Yangtze River .
Qiu Xingxiang's blockade in Shanghai helped slow down the enemy's attack and made great contributions to the Wuhan Battle.
Then Qiu Xingxiang came to the Wuhan front line in person, confronted the Japanese army head-on, and made great achievements.
With his own record, Qiu Xingxiang was further reused by Chiang Kai-shek. Soon after, Chiang Kai-shek gave him an army and asked him to go to the sacred mountains and Liyang in southern Jiangsu to regain control there.
Chiang Kai-shek
When he heard that he was going to fight his hometown, Qiu Xingxiang was very happy and led the large army to march in a mighty manner. In April 1939, Qiu Xingxiang arrived near Yixing, and then he set up a formation and led his troops to capture two nearby hills.
Using the favorable terrain of the mountain, Qiu Xingxiang used artillery troops to bombard the Japanese positions, and then attacked the Shenshan area. Here, Qiu Xingxiang led his army to fight closely with the Japanese army and launched a fierce hand-to-hand combat. The Japanese artillery fire, bullets, swords and guns resisted our army, trying to repel our offensive.
However, the Japanese underestimated our determination, and the army rushed forward and attacked the sacred mountain. The Japanese could not resist our pace and decided to flee. The battle of the sacred mountain was of great significance. When the Japanese troops in Liyang and other places heard that Qiu Xingxiang's troops were coming, they fled north one after another.
Qiu Xingxiang
Qiu Xingxiang successfully regained his hometown with this stop, and this battle also became the highlight of his military career.
The captured Japanese general Mutsuo Doi said, "We are the candy cubes in your mouth, and you will eat them all sooner or later!"
Qiu Xingxiang has participated in various battles many times since then. In the War of Resistance Against Japan, he can be said to be a powerful general and a capable general of Chiang Kai-shek! Chiang Kai-shek publicly praised Qiu Xingxiang many times, praising him for being inappropriate, and named him "Qiu Laohu".
Qiu Xingxiang's official position has also risen all the way and has been smooth sailing. From the battalion commander to the positions of deputy division commander, major general division commander, political department director, etc.
Qiu Xingxiang
And the biggest official position in his life was the Luoyang Security Commander in 1947, and he would not have thought that this official position would become his last official position in the hands of the Kuomintang.
1947, at this time, the War of Resistance Against Japan had ended, Chiang Kai-shek decided to launch a civil war in and eliminate the Communist Party.
In the early stages of the civil war, the Kuomintang troops won many victories on the front battlefield, and Qiu Xingxiang was also involved. However, no one expected that in the second half of 1947, after Liu and Deng’s army advanced into Dabie Mountains , the situation began to be wrong!
advancing into the Dabie Mountains
Liu Bocheng and Deng Xiaoping's army attacked the Dabie Mountains, and the military peaks pointed directly at Wuhan and threatened Henan, the Central Plains. Then our Central Plains PLA won a series of victories in Henan, and it was unstoppable and captured nine major cities in a row. The PLA seemed to be unable to resist.
Chiang Kai-shek realized the seriousness of the situation, so he urgently summoned Qiu Xingxiang to Nanjing to meet. He wanted himself, a loyal student, to guard Luoyang City .
Qiu Xingxiang went to Nanjing that day. As soon as he got off the car, someone reminded him: "Teacher Qiu, the burden on your shoulders is not light. The Communist army is about to attack Luoyang . Chairman Jiang is upset now. Don't make any mistakes in his words!"
Chiang Kai-shek
After Qiu Xingxiang knew the danger, he immediately entered Chiang Kai-shek's office. In the office, Chiang Kai-shek was quite happy after seeing Qiu Xingxiang, and seemed to have seen a great savior. He said straight to the point: "Luoyang has been a place that must be fought for by military strategists throughout the ages, which is crucial to us! We must not be guarded!"
Then Chiang Kai-shek turned around and said: "You Qiu Laohu must defend Luoyang for me!" Qiu Xingxiang complained in his heart. It turned out that our army had more than 50,000 troops in Luoyang, but the Kuomintang army had just captured only 70,000 or 8,000 people.
But in order not to disappoint his principal, he still gritted his teeth and said, "Even if the sky of Luoyang is cut, I will still defend Luoyang!"
Cheng-shek was very happy, so he appointed him as the commander of the Luoyang Security Army. In this way, Qiu Xingxiang set foot on the Central Plains, but he never returned...
and his younger brother have been separated for fifty years
1947, on the eve of Qiu Xingxiang's about to take office, Jiang Jingguo specially found Qiu Xingxiang, explaining the importance of Luoyang to the Kuomintang: "The party and the country are in danger. In the middle, Luoyang is an important town in the Central Plains. If this city is lost, the consequences will be unimaginable. My father's life is also sad! "
Jiang Jingguo said sincerely, and tears flowed out of the corners of his eyes. Qiu Xingxiang was so moved at that time. He said, "I will sacrifice my life for the country if I defend Luoyang to the death!"
Chiang Kai-shek and Jiang Jingguo
After saying goodbye to Jiang Jingguo, Qiu Xingxiang returned home and packed his luggage overnight. Qiu Xingxiang also had a younger brother, called Qiu Xingcha and Qiu Xingchuan. The two were still very young, so Qiu Xingxiang took good care of these two younger brothers.
is about to leave home and I don’t know when I will come back, so Qiu Xingxiang specifically instructed his younger brothers to take good care of his family and wait for his good news! Then they set foot on the front line, but they didn't expect that they would be separated for more than 40 years!
After Qiu Xingxiang arrived in Luoyang, he realized that his doomsday was coming. The Kuomintang had 8,000 troops stationed here, 3,000 of whom were newly arrested men and had no military quality. However, Qiu Xingxiang still mobilized the people of the whole city and all the soldiers to dig trenches and fortresses, and then led troops to the countryside to grab grain, seize more than 1,000 kilograms of grain, and resisted our army.
Liberate Luoyang
People's Liberation Army is the leader of General Chen Geng. When Chen Geng heard Qiu Xingxiang's command, he had already understood this Huangpu alumnus, so he decided on the tactics that the war was about to break out!
On March 9, 1948, the People's Liberation Army's 50,000 troops surrounded Luoyang City. Then, on March 11, Chen Geng gave the order, the Luoyang Liberation War began!
Our army has launched a siege of Luoyang City and successfully captured the city gate. The army rushed into the city.
Qiu Xingxiang and Zhang Ming, who liberated Luoyang,
At twelve o'clock on the evening of March 14, Luoyang City was captured and the People's Liberation Army captured prisoners in the city. Qiu Xingxiang knew that he had failed to fulfill Principal Jiang's mission and felt ashamed of Chiang Kai-shek, so he decided to shoot himself. At this moment, a soldier named Wang Wubin discovered Qiu Xingxiang.
Wang Wubin didn't know Qiu Xingxiang's identity, so he hugged Qiu Xingxiang's waist and said, "Comrade, Luoyang is liberated. Don't follow the Kuomintang again in the future. Do you think of it for them?"
Wang Wubin sacrificed his life to stop Qiu Xingxiang and took away his gun. Qiu Xingxiang failed to commit suicide, but was rescued by our army. Then the soldiers discovered that this person was the commander of Luoyang Qiu Xingxiang!
Chen Geng
Qiu Xingxiang was escorted to Chen Geng by the soldiers. Chen Geng personally untied him and then recounted the old things. Chen Geng, who is knowledgeable and humorous, started telling stories from the Huangpu period and got close to Qiu Xingxiang.
Qiu Xingxiang ignored him at first, but Chen Geng continued to tell the story on his own, and recalled that when he was doing underground work, he passed by Qiu Xingxiang's hometown and talked about the customs and customs of Qiu Xingxiang's hometown.
As soon as he mentioned his hometown, Qiu Xingxiang also opened up and started chatting with Chen Geng. He did not expect that Chen Geng, a foreigner, was so familiar with his hometown. Chen Geng could understand everything clearly from local specialty snacks to local customs and habits.
Chen Geng
Qiu Xingxiang admired Chen Geng from the bottom of his heart. The regret of not being able to complete the task has subsided a lot before. Qiu Xingxiang was then sent to the rear prison. Before leaving, Chen Geng even stuffed him a lot of canned pork for him to eat on the way.
Chen Geng's approach moved Qiu Xingxiang, and the Communist Party's policy toward prisoners made him feel quite moved! He also decided to seize the opportunity to be a new person and must go back to his hometown alive.
before and after rushing to Taiwan
Like many war criminals, Qiu Xingxiang was imprisoned in Gongdelin for transformation after being captured. He actively performed in prison. Therefore, Qiu Xingxiang's name was listed on the first batch of amnesty lists in 1959.
pardon
After being released from prison, Qiu Xingxiang went to his factory in his hometown to work as a worker for a period of time. However, the country considered that he was once a Kuomintang general, so he was asked to be a member of the CPPCC , studied the history of the Kuomintang, and was committed to cross-strait reunification.
When it comes to cross-strait reunification, Qiu Xingxiang has countless words in his heart, because his younger brother was taken to Taiwan by the Kuomintang in 1949. Since then, his younger brother and he have been separated from his own strait and have not seen each other for many years!
Cross-strait unification is Qiu Xingxiang's wish and the greatest wish of the people of the whole country. Therefore, Qiu Xingxiang began to write letters to his old comrades, hoping that they could go back to the mainland to take a look.
Qiu Xingxiang’s three
In fact, when Qiu Xingxiang was released from prison, he still believed in the Three Principles of the People and was a loyal believer of the Three Principles of the People. However, after seeing the Chinese people working hard and achieving many achievements from all walks of life, Qiu Xingxiang’s impression of the Communist Party has changed.
In his mind, the Communist Party did not represent advanced productivity, but was a peasant party. Now, seeing that the country has become prosperous and prosperous under their leadership, Qiu Xingxiang's position has been shaken.
He said: "Isn't this the Three Principles of the People that Mr. Sun Yat-sen hopes for!" From then on, he began to devote himself to the construction of socialism and do his best to the country.

By the 1980s, the gap between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait gradually disappeared, allowing free exchanges. Against this background, Qiu Xingxiang made a bold decision: to go to Taiwan.
Qiu Xingxiang was over 80 years old at that time, but he still decided to go to Taiwan to find his younger brother and family. Previously, Qiu Xingxiang wrote a letter to know that his younger brother and his family were working as a veterinarian in Taiwan and his life was relatively stable, but he still wanted to see the lives of his family in person.
Just like that, with the help of the country, Qiu Xingxiang obtained a pass to Taiwan. Then he set out from Shanghai, flew through Hong Kong, and arrived in Taiwan.
The leftmost Chen Geng and the rightmost Qiu Xingxiang
The younger brother was moved when he heard that his brother had crossed the strait and came to see him. Several elderly people had been reunited in Taiwan for nearly half a century!
Qiu Xingxiang's trip to Taiwan also alarmed the Taiwanese authorities, mainly because of Qiu Xingxiang's special identity in the past.
Qiu Xingxiang is a general of the Kuomintang after all, and a follower and believer of Chiang Kai-shek. After considering this, Jiang Weiguo decided to use Qiu Xingxiang to achieve his goals!
Chiang Kai-shek
Before Qiu Xingxiang left, Jiang Weiguo specially received Qiu Xingxiang. Qiu Xingxiang knew that the son of the Jiang family seemed particularly happy after receiving him, so he happily went to the appointment.
However, although Jiang Weiguo met Qiu Xingxiang under the name of farewell, he soon revealed his true purpose.
He took out a stack of money from his pocket and then said, "This is considering that Mr. Qiu has given us some compensation for many years. We have now established a Ministry of Defense Pension Foundation in Taiwan. This money comes from here!"
Jiang Weiguo
Then Jiang Weiguo took out a form from his pocket and said, "I know you are not a high-ranking official in the mainland, and your salary is also very low. You have children to support you. This money is not respectful. As long as you sign it on this!"
Qiu Xingxiang was originally full of joy, but Jiang Weiguo's actions proved that he had ulterior motives in this banquet. He chose to give money to buy himself!
Qiu Xingxiang was annoyed on the spot. He said, "I have a stable income in the mainland. When I come to Taiwan, I am not a beggar and ask for money. I don't need your pension!"
Jiang Weiguo
Jiang Weiguo saw that Qiu Xingxiang didn't eat this set, and then he had to say embarrassedly: "Then, how do you feel about us when you come to Taiwan?"
Qiu Xingxiang said, "I saw a book in your store called "Bandit Love Yearbook". I will not want such a book in the future. Now the relationship between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait has gradually recovered. What's the point of cursing like this?"
Jiang Weiguo knew that he could not make fun of himself. In the end, the banquet ended up unhappily. Qiu Xingxiang boarded the plane back to the mainland and has never been to Taiwan since then.
In 1996, Qiu Xingxiang died of illness in Nanjing at the age of 88. His life was ups and downs, but there was one belief that never changed, that is, patriotism!
He once fought bravely on the battlefield of the Anti-Japanese War and is a person worthy of our respect! Finally, he firmly stood up and could see that he was a true man with iron and firm hearts! Salute to this man!
