1950, shortly after the founding of New China, the Korean War broke out. The cruelty and difficulty of the battle made the builders of New China further realize the necessity and urgency of the development of military industry. At that time, in order to strengthen the combat effectiveness of our army, the Central Military Commission determined the development direction of the army factories mainly to solve the problem of military transportation. The director of the sixth auto parts factory in Beijing, Cheng Huaming, proposed a plan to first build a motorcycle and then transition from a motorcycle to a car at the transportation meeting of the whole army, and obtained the approval of the superior leader.
Auto Parts 6 Factory is the full name of the People's Liberation Army Beijing Sixth Auto Parts Factory. It is a factory for repairing cars and manufacturing accessories. The equipment is simple and the technology is backward, and the workers have no experience in manufacturing complete vehicles. In order to produce motorcycles, many technical workers were recruited from all over the country to form casting, forging and sheet metal groups. Because there is no basis for making cars, you can only imitate mature models. Auto Parts Factory No. 6 bought some world-famous motorcycles from all over the country, and through comparison and screening, it decided to imitate the German Zundapu K500. This car was equipped with German troops during World War II . It has a simple structure, high durability, and low imitation process.
The factory equipment in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China was simple and outdated, and there was no condition for producing complete vehicles at all. However, the workers created miracles after miracles with their own hands. At that time, the national economy was in a recovery period, and resisted the U.S. aggression and aid Korea brought a lot of production pressure. In addition, the new China lacked basic industry and raw material supply. Many of the production of this car started from scratch. More than 80% of the components of the entire motorcycle were overcome by the Auto Parts Six Factory overcame difficulties and made little by little.
On July 31, 1951, Zhu De, then Commander-in-Chief of the People's Liberation Army of China, Nie Rongzhen and other leaders visited the Auto Parts Factory No. 6 to visit the newly made motorcycles and gave them a very high evaluation. On August 1, all employees of the Auto Parts Factory No. 6 wrote a letter to the Central Military Commission, Chairman Mao Zedong and Commander-in-Chief Zhu De. On August 3, all the factory employees held a celebration meeting in the factory auditorium. At the later awards ceremony, the Central Military Commission named the car "Jinggangshan" brand, which means commemorating the heroic struggle of Jinggangshan and inheriting the revolutionary spirit of Jinggangshan.
"Jinggangshan" two-wheeled motorcycle has basically achieved its original design intention, and the gap with the prototype is very small. It is strong and durable, has a low center of gravity, and is easy to operate. It has a maximum speed of more than 100km/h, and its structure is relatively simple, so the manufacturing process is relatively difficult. In January 1955, the "Jinggangshan" motorcycle participated in the International Expo held in Leipzig, Germany. This is the first time that motorcycles made by Chinese workers have been exhibited abroad after the founding of New China. After 1955, Auto Parts Factory Six stopped the production of motorcycles due to affiliation (later the brand developed into " Beijing Auto ") and production tasks.
