Picture | The great people's leader Chairman Mao passed away
On September 17, 1976, Gao Fuyou, a guard who had been with Chairman Mao for 13 years, stood in front of Chairman Mao's spirit, choked and cried. He looked at Chairman Mao's face, and his thoughts couldn't help but floated back to the glorious years he had spent with Chairman Mao day and night...
Defend Chairman Mao
One day in early March, 1936, the 19-year-old Gao Fuyou secretly joined the Communist Party of China. Since then, Gao Fuyou has determined to "resolutely follow the Communist Party of China and follow Chairman Mao" !
From the day he joined the Communist Party, Gao Fuyou always hoped to see Chairman Mao, the leader of the Red Army, whom he respected infinitely, and this day was soon waited by Gao Fuyou. One day in 1936, Chairman Mao led his troops to cross the Yellow River to the east and came to the rich working town.
At that time, Gao Fuyou was working as a local worker in Shikou Town, Xi County, Shanxi Province. One day, the Red Army came to the town. When Gao Fuyou was busy with his town government, he suddenly heard someone say, "Chairman Mao is here!"
Gao Fuyou immediately put down his work, ran out of the cave excitedly, climbed up a high slope, and looked around in the sound. In the Red Army team, he finally saw from afar--
A man wearing a dark gray old cloth uniform, wearing a red army hat, and an enviable five-star bright red star embroidered in the middle of the hat. He walked forward like an ordinary Red Army. The only difference from others is that he is tall and burly, with a pair of wise eyes under his broad forehead. He is Chairman Mao.
After Gao Fuyou recognized Chairman Mao, he called excitedly, and his heart was beating constantly. He wanted to squeeze forward and say something to Chairman Mao and tell Chairman Mao about the situation of their work team... But in the end, Gao Fuyou still did not take action. He stood on the slope and saw that he really couldn't see Chairman Mao, so he returned to the town government to continue working.
Soon after, Chairman Mao ordered the crossing of the Yellow River to the west and reenter the Shaanxi. Staff of local working teams such as Gao Fuyou also followed the Red Army troops to cross the Yellow River to the west and prepare to continue to carry out local work after entering Shaanxi. After arriving in Yanchuan County, northern Shaanxi, Gao Fuyou originally sent Gao Fuyou to train, and then returned to his hometown to insist on local work, but Gao Fuyou really wanted to stay in the Red Army troops to follow the Communist Party and contribute to the people. Therefore, he firmly demanded to join the Red Army troops to serve in the army and resolutely gave up the opportunity to participate in the training of local work teams.

Finally, Gao Fuyou's wish was realized and he was incorporated into the first company of the Special Service Regiment of the Red First Front Army headquarter commanded by Marshal Peng Dehuai. In the following years of combat, Gao Fuyou always rushed to the front line. Therefore, his brave performance also left a very deep impression on his superiors. After the Xi'an Incident, in order to promote further cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party and establish a consolidated anti-Japanese national united front, the central government sent Premier Zhou to negotiate with the Kuomintang many times. In accordance with the central deployment, on April 25, 1937, Premier Zhou took a car to Xi'an to negotiate with the Kuomintang representative Gu Zhu and on cooperation matters.
When the car that Premier Zhou was riding in drove to the vicinity of Laoshan in Ganquan, he was suddenly ambushed by bandits. After the incident, in order to ensure the safety of the central leadership, the central government decided to: draw a battalion from the First Red Army to Yan'an to strengthen the security work of the Party Central Committee and Chairman Mao.
Soon, Marshal Peng Dehuai, under the instructions of the Central Committee, drew two companies to form a strong combat-effective Central Military Commission Guard Battalion, and equipped with the best weapons and ammunition, including Gao Fuyou.
Before leaving, Marshal Peng Dehuai also specifically instructed: "This time you are transferred to Yan'an to complete a glorious task. You must do a good job, defend the Party Central Committee, defend Chairman Mao, and defend Yan'an."
Marshal Peng Dehuai's words issued the task very clearly. For a time, the cadres and soldiers were in high spirits. On May 10, 1937, Gao Fuyou followed the Central Military Commission's Guard Battalion to Yan'an.
In this way, Gao Fuyou took on the important task of defending Chairman Mao. As a child from a farmer family, Gao Fuyou had the habit of growing crops since he was a child. One day shortly after he first arrived in Yan'an, Gao Fuyou found that there was a piece of land behind Chairman Mao's cave. He felt it was a pity that he had land but did not plant it. So he used his spare time to cultivate the land and planted corn, bean pods, sunflowers, etc. He would water, fertilize, and weed, so that the crops grew very well.
Chairman Mao quickly noticed Gao Fuyou's behavior, and for this reason, Chairman Mao also praised him.

Chairman Mao often goes behind the cave to see the crops when he is walking. Whenever he meets Gao Fuyou working in the field, he will ask Gao Fuyou: When will the northern corn be planted? A series of questions such as when will the beans be collected?
When Gao Fuyou heard Chairman Mao’s question, he would answer them one by one.
Not long after, the corn ripened, the grains were full and all were tender. On that day, Chairman Mao took a walk. After seeing this, Gao Fuyou broke off the corn cob and handed it to Chairman Mao and said, "Chairman, you can taste it!"
"Thank you, Comrade Gao Fuyou, how can you enjoy the fruits without participating in the labor!" Chairman Mao declined modestly.
At that time, Gao Fuyou was the leader of the machine gun squad and was more flexible in performing guard duty tasks. He also went to Chairman Mao to plant crops behind Chairman Mao's cave. For this reason, he often met Chairman Mao and was very familiar with Chairman Mao. The longer he got along with Chairman Mao, the more Gao Fuyou felt that Chairman Mao was approachable and amiable. In the days that followed, Chairman Mao was even more caring about Gao Fuyou.
"We have feelings"
In August 1945, Japanese imperialism, which committed unforgivable and heinous crimes against the Chinese people, had to put down the butcher knife, put away the arrogant and arrogant face of the invaders, sit at the negotiating table without any conditions, announce a complete surrender to the world and withdraw its troops.
For a moment, Yan'an City was boiling, and people ran around and cheered. After eight years of the War of Resistance Against Japan, they finally won!
At this time, Marshal Zhu De issued an order to the entire army: "All anti-Japanese troops should advance to the enemy-occupied areas immediately and accept the surrender of the Japanese and puppet troops. If there are invaders and their lackeys, they will be resolutely eliminated."
At that time, the guard force stationed in Yan'an was also divided into two. The regiment commander Wu Lie took the lead in leading the 5th and 6th companies of the 2nd Battalion of the Central Military Commission and some cadres of the regiment organs of the Central Guard Regiment to go to the front line to participate in the war. At that time, Gao Fuyou was the platoon leader of the 1st Company of the 5th Company of the 2nd Battalion and the party branch secretary, so he was naturally on the front line.
When Gao Fuyou learned of this order, he immediately packed up his luggage and asked the person who came first to take it away. For this reason, he said happily: "I'm so excited. I haven't shot the Japanese devils in the 8 years of the War of Resistance Against Japan. I finally have a chance today."

However, shortly after Gao Fuyou was ready, Liu Huishan and political commissar Zhang Tingzhen found Gao Fuyou and said to him seriously: "You must stay and continue to be Chairman Mao's guard."
's words made Gao Fuyou, who originally planned to go to the front line, dispelled this idea. Soon, Gao Fuyou took on the job of defending Chairman Mao and other central leaders as a platoon leader.
Not long after, the comrades who went to the front line wrote a letter to Gao Fuyou, which contained a passage in the letter: "...If you want to be promoted, come to the front line. The worst person like you is also a battalion commander, and you may be a regiment commander..."
At that time, everyone's letters were publicly circulated among the comrades, and there were a large number of comrades who read the letter. The content of the letter caused quite a lot of fluctuations in Gao Fuyou's thoughts. A few days later, I don't know who told Chairman Mao about the tortuous journey that Gao Fuyou thought about before he went there, as well as the general content of the letter from the comrades on the front line. Chairman Mao also talked to Gao Fuyou for this.
In the yard, Chairman Mao saw Gao Fuyou and chatted with him as usual. Suddenly, Chairman Mao changed his mind and rushed to Gao Fuyou directly and said, "Gao Fuyou, I heard you want to go forward. Is there anything wrong?"
" Yes!"
"You are like this, you want to go forward, don't you want to be behind?" Chairman Mao stared at Gao Fuyou with keen eyes.
After hearing Chairman Mao's words, Gao Fuyou once again aroused the tortuous ideological struggle of going to the front line and killing the enemy and serving the country with his own hands. This was not a momentary impulse, but a natural idea for every bloody anti-Japanese soldier. Now that the Japanese invaders have surrendered, it is impossible to go to the front line to fight the Japanese army. Revolutionary soldiers should obey the needs of the organization and do a good job everywhere. So Gao Fuyou said, "Chairman, it's not that I don't want to be in the rear, and now I don't want to go in the front line!"
"Then you are in trouble! The front is better than the rear. You can at least be a battalion commander or company commander." Chairman Mao said half-jokingly with Gao Fuyou in a rare tone.

"Chairman, I don't want to be an official!" Gao Fuyou quickly explained.
"Just figure it out now. I don't want to go. Since you don't go to the front line, then be with me and be with the people of northern Shaanxi! The rice is delicious, we have feelings! You stay, let's work together for another two years!" Chairman Mao said slowly, Gao Fuyou looked up at Chairman Mao's affectionate eyes. He knew that Chairman Mao was in love. He didn't say anything more, but just nodded heavily.
has been working as a guard next to Chairman Mao for many years. Gao Fuyou knows that Chairman Mao has always treated him well. This time, the serious and emotional criticism touched Gao Fuyou deeply. In his opinion, this was a sincere, shocking and fatherly care and help.
Chairman Mao was very concerned about Gao Fuyou, and Chairman Mao was no exception for Gao Fuyou's family...
One day in 1948, when Chairman Mao was about to stand up and leave after watching the movie in Xibaipo , he saw Gao Fuyou's wife Liu Xiuying standing not far away with her daughter in her arms.
Chairman Mao saw this and walked over and asked Gao Fuyou, "Gao Fuyou, that's your lover!"
"Yes!" Gao Fuyou followed Chairman Mao.
"Hi, the child is very beautiful. Do you have any milk to drink?" Chairman Mao walked up to Liu Xiuying, shook hands with her, then pulled the child's little hand and gently stroked her face and asked.
"It's gone long ago."
"What should I give her?"
"Put some rice paste, gnocchi , or steam egg custard or something." Liu Xiuying said quickly, Gao Fuyou stood aside, a little anxious. He hoped his wife would say it simpler and not waste Chairman Mao's precious time.
But Chairman Mao did not find it long-winded, but listened very carefully and asked, "Why don't you give her milk? Please give her some more milk!"
"Not here!" Liu Xiuying looked at the child in her arms, then looked at Chairman Mao, and asked in surprise.
"Milk, milk, no matter how difficult it is, you must ensure that the children drink it. You cannot let the children go hungry, nor can you let them suffer any more." Chairman Mao looked at the children and muttered affectionately.

"Children cannot drink milk without milk. Please tell the administrator that I will not drink milk. Let her drink it from tomorrow." Chairman Mao touched the child's face, turned around and said to another staff member beside him.
Hearing this, Gao Fuyou felt very sorry, but after Chairman Mao said, he was not easy to refuse, otherwise Chairman Mao would be unhappy. For a moment, Gao Fuyou felt infinite gratitude from the bottom of his heart.
Since then, Gao Ying, the rich daughter, can get a small bucket of milk every day. The child loves to drink it. Not long after, his round little face became more rosy. Under Chairman Mao’s care, the nutrition was increased and the child’s physique became better.
years later, when recalling this incident, Gao Fuyou and his wife Liu Xiuying always muttered: "We Yingying grew up under the care of Chairman Mao. She grew up drinking the milk given by Chairman Mao!"
Chairman Mao passed away
In Gao Fuyou's view, Chairman Mao's care for him was like his father. He also planned to always protect Chairman Mao, but he failed to do so.
At the beginning of the founding of New China, the situation in the capital Beijing was that the enemy situation was serious and the social situation was complex. The hidden enemy special forces were always ready to conduct conspiracy and sabotage activities such as assassination of Chairman Mao, the central leaders, and senior democratic figures.
In response to this, the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Central Committee and the Ministry of Public Security have already made full preparations and strict preventive measures. After entering Beijing, Gao Fuyou was appointed as the captain of the plainclothes team of the Central Committee of Social Affairs, so he also left Chairman Mao who had been with him and defended for 13 years.
Because Gao Fuyou is brave and alert, he immediately went to Beijing Summer Palace, the Government Council Expert Reception Office, the State Administration of Foreign Experts , and the State Council Administration of Organs Affairs . It can be said that wherever security is important, Gao Fuyou is present. Therefore, in the days that followed, Gao Fuyou rarely met Chairman Mao again, but every time he met, Chairman Mao would greet Gao Fuyou very kindly, which also touched Gao Fuyou very much.
In the years that followed, whether Chairman Mao or Gao Fuyou, they always missed each other in their hearts.
In August 1966, the Party Central Committee held the 11th Plenary Session of the Eighth Central Committee of the Party in Beijing. One day, Gao Fuyou was responsible for the security and protection of the Tiananmen Gate Tower. At this time, Chairman Mao walked to the Tiananmen Gate Hall with great enthusiasm. When he saw Gao Fuyou, Chairman Mao unconsciously accelerated his pace, walked to Gao Fuyou, and stretched out his hand and said affectionately: "Gao Fuyou, you comrade," , I can't see you, and you won't go to my house to check in!" '

Seeing Chairman Mao who was thinking about him, Gao Fu was so excited that he couldn't speak, but he unconsciously tightened his hand holding Chairman Mao. After a long time, Chairman Mao shook Gao Fu Fu's hand and said: "You are free, Go to my house to visit you, I miss you! "
Hearing Chairman Mao's words, Gao Fuyou's eyes turned red. He hurriedly said, "Yes, Chairman, I will definitely go!"
, and Gao Fuyou was unable to step into Zhongnanhai because of his busy work, but what he didn't expect was that the next meeting with Chairman Mao turned out to be One was lying, one stood, one cried, and the other was asleep...
1976, the tears of the Chinese people to mourn Premier Zhou and President Zhu's death had not been wiped away. On September 9, another bad news came about the death of the great people's leader Chairman Mao. In an instant, the land of the motherland, the whole country, and the territory of thousands of miles were shrouded in a heart-wrenching sorrow, and the rivers condensed and turned into tears. The day after the announcement of Chairman Mao’s death was released, Gao Fuyou was transferred to the Great Hall of the People before he could ease his grief and attended an important meeting on Chairman Mao’s funeral.
The central government quickly established Chairman Mao’s funeral office, which was under the General Affairs Group Office. Gao Fuyou was arranged to stay in the National Hotel and participate in the relevant work assigned by the funeral office.
Shortly after Chairman Mao’s death, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issued a letter to the whole party, army and the people of the whole country. The announcement pointed out: After Chairman Mao Zedong's death, a grand condolence ceremony was held in the Great Hall of the People from the 11th to the 17th. At that time, the leaders of the Party and the state participated in the condolences and keepings; more than 300,000 cadres of the organs and people from all walks of life participated in the condolence ceremony and paying attention to the remains, and at the same time, international friends were organized to participate in the mourning activities. From the 9th to the 18th, all parts of the country were all cut off the flag to mourn, and all entertainment activities were stopped. On the 18th, millions of people in the capital held a grand memorial service at , Tiananmen Square, and hundreds of millions of people from all over the country paid silence at the same time. The condolence ceremony held in the Great Hall of the People was held from September 11 to 17. The leaders of the Party and the state, the relatives of Chairman Mao and the staff around him participated in the condolences and guards one by one. Every day, tens of thousands of cadres of the organs, representatives from all walks of life, commanders and fighters of the People's Liberation Army, etc. participated in the condolences and paid homage to Chairman Mao's remains.
During that time, Gao Fuyou was busy with Chairman Mao’s condolences all day long, but he also had an idea in his mind: wanted to stand by Chairman Mao for a last time and guard him for a while to express his deep nostalgia for Chairman Mao.
But the rich answer was: Only the leaders of the Party and the state, the relatives of Chairman Mao and the staff around him were able to participate in Chairman Mao's body. If others were arranged, it would be more difficult.
For this reason, Gao Fuyou was very sad. Time passed day by day, and batches of people who participated in the mourning passed by Gao Fuyou. Seeing that the mourning entered the last day, Gao Fuyou was anxious. He really didn't want to lose the last chance to keep Chairman Mao.
For this reason, Gao Fuyou took the initiative to find Hua Guofeng and Wang Dongxing and sincerely made personal requests: "Chairman Hua, Chief Wang, I want to guard Chairman Mao. I am not the leader, nor do I need to stand in the position of the leader. I want to guard the chairman in a relative position. If I can, I will be content!"
Seeing Gao Fu's expectant appearance, Hua Guo Feng nodded repeatedly: "Arrang now! You are with Li Min!"

"Who said it's not possible? Go quickly, I'll arrange it now. You, Luo Qingchang, Li Min, and other comrades from the funeral office, let's wake the Chairman together! This is what it should be!" Wang Dongxing's answer was also very straightforward.
Standing in front of Chairman Mao's spirit, Gao Fuyou lowered his head and shook his tears. Looking at Chairman Mao's remains, he remembered the first time he saw Chairman Mao, and then followed the Red Army to make a revolution, and followed Chairman Mao to fight in northern Shaanxi. His ears seemed to be still lingering in his ears, "Be with me!" "Go to visit my house!" "I miss you!" ......
The familiar voice was like yesterday, and it seemed like today. Gao Fuyou seemed to see Chairman Mao's steady, calm, resolute and courageous leadership style again. However, on that day, Gao Fuyou's tears fell like rain, wetting his clothes.
In the years that followed, every day Chairman Mao’s birthday and death day, Gao Fuyou would go to Chairman Mao’s memorial hall to pay tribute to Chairman Mao’s remains just to take a look at Chairman Mao.

In 2015, Gao Fu You Old Man died of illness in Beijing at the age of 98. At his memorial service, there was a couplet like this that summarized the extraordinary life of the old man:
"Defend Chairman Mao's glorious years and write legends, and make meritorious contributions to the peace of the new China!"
