In April 1984, He Zizhen was critically ill. At this time, it was nearly 8 years since Chairman Mao passed away. Now He Zizhen has reached the last moment of his life. It is reported that He Zizhen was hospitalized in early April, and his body temperature was intermittent and high fever occurred. He tried various methods, but his body temperature could not drop.
Far away, the son-in-law Kong Linghua in Beijing was worried after learning the news, but Kong Linghua did not dare to suddenly tell Li Min the news. At that time, Li Min had a heart disease and he was worried that Li Min would not be able to bear the stimulation. Kong Linghua tactfully told Li Min that his mother was seriously ill and tried his best to calm Li Min down.
Then the two packed their clothes and flew to Shanghai. Then Li Min and Kong Linghua arrived at He Zizhen's bedside. Perhaps because they knew that their daughter was coming, He Zizhen's condition improved and they could still speak during this period. On the evening of April 18, He Zizhen's condition took a sharp turn and finally passed away on the afternoon of the 19th.
The daughter and son-in-law sent He Zizhen away for the last journey, at the age of 75. Looking back on He Zizhen's life, it was a life full of hardships and twists. Everyone knows that she is Chairman Mao's third wife, but few people know that she joined the party as early as 1926 and was the first female party member on Jinggangshan .
At that time, He Zi was young and beautiful, and was also known as "Yongxin Yizhihua". She, her brother He Minxue and her younger sister He Yi, were collectively called "Yongxin Sanhe". In order to avoid the enemy's arrest, she went to Jinggangshan, and later met Chairman Mao who went to Jinggangshan.
In the later revolutionary battle, He Zizhen and Chairman Mao developed a good impression of each other and finally got together. He Zizhen and Chairman Mao have been with each other for ten years, which was the most difficult decade of the revolution and the most difficult decade for Chairman Mao personally. He Zizhen is a strong woman and has never wavered in her revolutionary beliefs.
On the way to Long March , He Zizhen almost died in order to cover the wounded. Chairman Mao insisted on carrying her through the Long March on a stretcher and finally arrived in northern Shaanxi safely. In his later life, He Zizhen was injured and unable to do the job, so he was temporarily idle.
He Zizhen, who has a strong personality, cannot adapt to the life of "eating and drinking for free". Coupled with the misunderstanding of Chairman Mao, she went to the Soviet Union in anger. He Zizhen suffered a lot in a foreign country. It was not until 1947 that she returned to China and went to Shanghai to live after liberation.
He Zizhen never remarried. She did not forget Chairman Mao, and Chairman Mao did not forget her. In 1959, after Chairman Mao arranged, he met He Zizhen in Lushan. After meeting, He Zizhen couldn't help crying. Chairman Mao comforted her and sent her down the mountain two or three hours later.
In the days that followed, He Zizhen and Chairman Mao never met again. Until the third anniversary of Chairman Mao’s death, He Zizhen, under the arrangement of his daughter and son-in-law, went to Chairman Mao’s memorial hall and paid tribute to Chairman Mao’s remains. He Zizhen looked at Chairman Mao’s colossus and refused to leave for a long time.
Time is like water. Nearly 8 years after Chairman Mao passed away, He Zizhen unfortunately passed away. What specifications does her funeral be held? Where should the ashes be buried? Shanghai did not dare to make decisions without authorization, so it had to ask Deng Xiaoping for instructions. So what would Deng Xiaoping do?
Deng Xiaoping immediately made two requests, saying: "The leaders of the central government must send wreaths, and He Zizhen's ashes are placed in one room." The leaders' sending wreaths and ashes are placed in one room, which is a recognition of He Zizhen's contribution throughout his life.
Many people may not know that "one room" is the place where the ashes of central leaders are stored in Babaoshan Cemetery. With these two points proposed by Deng Xiaoping, it can also set the tone for the specifications of He Zizhen's funeral. On April 25, 1984, the farewell ceremony for He Zizhen's body was held in the Longhua Revolutionary Cemetery in Shanghai.
He Zizhen's body was covered with party flags and flowers were placed around her. That afternoon, her body was cremated, and then the ashes were sent to Beijing and placed in a room in Babaoshan Cemetery. He Zizhen received the treatment she deserves, and her contributions are worth remembering by future generations.
