At 01:47 on September 21, 2099, magnitude 7.6 earthquake occurred near Jiji Town, Nantou County, Taiwan. This earthquake was the second worst earthquake in Taiwan's history [the first serious one was the Hsinchu-Taichung Earthquake in 1935]. When this earthquake occurred, the tremor of Taiwan was strong, and there was also a clear tremor in Fujian, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hong Kong, Jiangsu and other places in China.
The epicenter intensity of this major earthquake reached 10 degrees, the earthquake caused 2415 deaths, 29 missing, 11305 injured, 51711 buildings were destroyed, 53768 buildings were damaged, and the economic losses reached US$10 billion. In addition, due to the major earthquake, the power station and transmission station were damaged, three nuclear power plants in Taiwan were automatically closed. The major earthquake also caused serious damage to the main bridges on Taiwan Island, and the earthquake also caused damage to 870 schools.
