At the Lushan Conference in 1959, General Peng put forward some different views and opinions on the "Great Leap Forward" and was wrongly criticized. At the subsequent enlarged meeting of the Military Commission, some people flipped over old accounts and falsely accused General Peng, which led to General Peng being even more violently criticized. At the meeting, Major General Zhong Wei stood up. He argued for General Peng and even slapped the table. Finally, he was put out of the venue by the guards. Zhong Wei, who was treated wrongly, was transferred from the army and transferred to Anhui Province to serve as deputy director of the Department of Agriculture, and was hit during a special period.
Major General Zhong Wei is an old subordinate of General Peng. He has followed General Peng to fight since Red Third Army . He always knows Mr. Peng. He believes in General Peng's character, so he stands up for General Peng. Judging from Zhong Wei's qualifications and military achievements, he is enough to be awarded the title of lieutenant general.
After Long March arrived in northern Shaanxi, Zhong Wei served as the director of the Political Department of the 78th Division of the Red 15th Army. During the War of Resistance Against Japan, he served as the deputy brigade commander of the New Fourth Army in , and during the War of Liberation, he served as the commander of the 12th Column of the Northeast Field Army. Later, he served as the commander of the 49th Army of the Fourth Field Army. He was a famous general under General Lin.
Zhong Wei's battle to become famous was in three-time Jiangnan Battle . Zhong Wei, then commander of the 5th Division, disobeyed military orders, dragged the enemy two divisions, won the battle, and was praised by General Lin, and became famous in this battle. Although he was later entitled major general, his appointment was based on the standards of lieutenant general. He served as the chief of staff of the Beijing Military Region.
Unexpectedly, because General Peng was deported for his righteous words, his career came to an abrupt end. However, Zhong Wei did not care about these things. He was wronged in 1959 and until 1979, it took 20 years to be rehabilitated and restored his reputation. However, his relevant treatment had not been implemented at that time.
One day in 1980, Zhong Wei found his old superior Huang Kecheng, who was then the executive secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission. Huang Kecheng was also delegated because of the words of General Peng. He did not resume work until December 1977, and was officially rehabilitated and restored his reputation in 1980.
After resuming work, Huang Kecheng insisted on working while ill and ran to rectify unjust, false and wrong cases. When Zhong Wei encountered problems, he naturally thought of finding the old leader Huang Kecheng. After meeting, Zhong Wei was straight to the point and said bluntly that he had no house to live in. Huang Kecheng was very surprised because he arranged a house for Zhong Wei after rehabilitation.
Huang Kecheng patiently asked Zhong Wei, "Did the organization arrange a house for you?" Zhong Wei replied, "I want to go back to my own house." Huang Kecheng then realized that Zhong Wei was here to ask for a house, and he couldn't help but feel disappointed and angry, and said bluntly: "I remember when you participated in the revolution, you didn't even have a pair of pants."
Zhong Wei heard that Huang Kecheng was a little angry, and was stunned for a long time before saying, "I just want to go back to my original house. I planted 30 peach trees before, but now they all bear fruit." Huang Kecheng was immediately angry after hearing this. He said, "Zhong Wei, you are becoming more and more confused as you get older. You are really ignorant. You regard the public house as private property!" After he finished speaking, he asked him, "Did you do the revolution for the sake of the house?" Zhong Wei said ashamedly, "I don't want the house!" In fact, Zhong Wei couldn't bear to leave the 30 peach trees, but he didn't know that Zhong Wei was a model of integrity. His son and grandson had been farmers all his life, and none of them became officials.
On December 24, 1980, Zhong Wei was approved by the Central Committee to resign as the Chief of Staff of the Beijing Military Region and enjoyed the treatment of the Corps at the level of the 7th administrative level. Later, it was promoted to the treatment of the deputy rank of the military region. Zhong Wei did not care about these treatments, and he once again made a request to his superiors.
He reported to Military Commission and proposed to work out. When the old leader Huang Kecheng learned about it, he found him and said, "You stay calm and stay calm. If you fight again, you will go to find you!" After that, Zhong Wei lived a peaceful life of retirement until he died of illness on June 24, 1984 at the age of 73.
