The road ahead of the revolution is full of dangers and setbacks, and the ancestors defeated one difficulty after another with their bravery and fearlessness. However, in this world, there is greed for life and fear of death. In 1947, the Party held a significant meeting in Inner Mongolia. During this period, it was attacked by bandits. The cavalry company responsible for security actually fled at the last minute, resulting in heavy casualties on our side.
So how exactly did the whole thing happen? What is the final result?
01 The First Congress of Hebei-Chahar-Religious Liao
1947 The War of Resistance Against Japan has ended, but the regional situation is still unstable. The national army brazenly tore up the peace treaty and stared at the Communist Party’s ranks. In order to better respond to the armed threat of the Kuomintang, the party needs to make unified arrangements for the next combat plan. Therefore, the first congress of the Hebei-Chahar-Re-Liao region was organized to gather relevant personnel, including many cadres above the division.
A meeting of such a large scale, security issues are naturally extremely important. During the meeting, a platoon of guards was responsible for protecting the safety of the deputies. However, the meeting lasted for more than 40 days, and the Luandong Battle broke out in the middle. In order to send bullets to the front line in time, many guards were sent out.
Considering the security issues of the representatives, the military region sent a regiment of troops stationed in the direction of Chifeng of to monitor the movements of the national army at any time to prevent them from taking any action. A cavalry company was arranged to escort the deputies home. After the meeting was successfully concluded, the deputies set off one after another to return to the base and start to implement the next step of work.
02 Chaihu Lanzi was attacked
After several days of rushing, a group of 100 people arrived at Chaihu Lanzi Village. The village is located in a remote area with only more than 30 households. It was getting late at that time, so the representatives decided to stay here for a rest. When the villagers learned that they were from our party, they were very enthusiastic and each family took out food to prepare to entertain the representatives. Su Linyan, the head of the delegation, could not bear to refuse, so she had to let the delegates stay in Chaihu Lanzi Village, while the accompanying army was arranged to Caifengyingzi Village next door. This is mainly because of the fear that the army will cause some unnecessary trouble when it appears in the village.
The next day, the guard Li Zhongquan met a group of people during the patrol. Because the other party was dressed like the local villagers, he didn't think much about it and exposed his identity as a Communist. However, unexpectedly, this caused a fire. Li Zhongquan called out badly and actually encountered the enemy. During the brief fire exchange, Li Zhongquan retreated to the village, while the other party returned to inform him.
In the story of a local fellow villager, Li Zhongquan learned that those people were bandits supported by the Kuomintang. They robbed and did everything they wanted. The person in charge, Su Linyan, immediately arranged for the guards to set up an ambush in the village to deal with possible bandits. The bandits naturally didn't want to let us snipe, so they quickly went down the mountain to launch an attack.
They act very carefully, and only send a small team of people to attack each time to inquire about the number of armed forces in the village. Su Linyan knew that the current troops could not resist the bandits' offensive at all, so she sent people to Caifengyingzi Village to invite troops to support him. However, after calling twice, no reinforcements came.
03 suffered heavy losses
The enemy is strong and we are weak. Under the fierce gunfire of the opponent, Su Linyan was unfortunately shot and died. Li Zhongquan took the baton and understood that everyone is in an extremely unfavorable situation now. If they keep defending, they may be completely wiped out by the bandits. In order to find a way out, Li Zhongquan took the remaining people to the enemy's relatively weak east road and broke out and fought out. The scene was very tragic, with huge gunshots and shouts staining the earth with blood.
Li Zhongquan was shot in the back in the breakout. He relied on his last little effort to run to Caifengyingzi Village to find support. When I got there, I realized that the cavalry company ran away after hearing the gunshots in Chaihu Lanzi Village. The desperate Li Zhongquan had no time to be angry. He put it to death and returned to Chaihu Lanzi Village, preparing to die with the bandits. At this time, another team of cavalry from our army came to support us. Facing our well-trained army, the bandits were unable to resist and fled in panic.
After the war, our side suffered heavy losses, 22 soldiers were killed, and 5 or above cadres were unfortunately killed. Chairman Mao was furious after learning the news. He ordered the encirclement and suppression of the remaining bandits and shot them to escape in the last battle with military law, not supporting Li Zhongquan. The instructor of the cavalry company is to serve as a warning to others.
Although Li Zhongquan suffered a severe blow in his lungs, he was lucky enough to save his life in the end and survive. Looking back on this history, we can’t help but sigh that it is the Li Zhongquan who are not afraid of sacrifice, sticking to their responsibilities, and building a new China with their flesh and blood, which is why we have a happy life today and pay tribute to our ancestors!
