I believe everyone has seen the movie " assembly number ". The movie tells a story during the War of Liberation. Gu Zidi is a commander of the People's Liberation Army. He received the order and led the army to retreat after the assembly horn sounded. However, after all 47 people in the company died, the assembly horn still did not sound. Gu Zidi lost contact with the main force and embarked on a journey of search and proof. In fact, this story is not completely fictitious. The prototype of Gu Zidi is Chang Menglan, commander of the 8th Company and 2nd Platoon of the 30th Regiment, 10th Brigade and 4th Column of the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Region.
On November 19, 1948, Chang Menglan, who joined the army in 1944, was promoted to the platoon leader of the 8th Company, 2nd Platoon of the 30th Regiment, 4th Column, 10th Brigade, of the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Region because of his bravery in combat and good command. The
30 regiment encountered the main force of the Kuomintang's "temporary three armies" when moving outside the customs. The two armies had a tentative exchange of fire at the foot of the ancient Great Wall in Sangyuan Town, Yanqing County, Beijing.
Because the enemy did not know the situation of our army, they did not attack rashly. Faced with such a disparity in strength, the regiment commander immediately decided to evacuate at night to prevent being surrounded by the enemy. In order to ensure the smooth evacuation of the large troops, the regiment leader left behind 8 consecutive troops. After observing the terrain, the 8th company commander He Youhai handed over the main task of attracting firepower and containing the enemy to Chang Menglan. So Chang Menglan led seven soldiers of the fifth squad to carry out this blocking task, while the company commander led the troops to be responsible for connecting between the main force of the regiment and Chang Menglan's eight men, and at the same time, beware of enemies that might appear in other directions.
Company commander Chang Menglan commanded eight men to drag the enemy until dark so that the main force of the regiment could be safely transferred. Before the company commander led his troops to set off, he told Chang Menglan that he was not allowed to retreat without receiving orders. When Chang Menglan asked the company commander how to convey the retreat order, the company commander told him: I will arrange for someone to blow a trombone on the other side of the mountain so that you can withdraw from the battle.
Seeing the company commander leading the team away, Chang Menglan and the soldiers found a terrain on the mountain that was easy to defend, and then arranged for the youngest soldier to be responsible for listening to the trumpet sound a little further away from the position.
Soon after, the battle started, and the enemies began to rush towards the position one after another. Chang Menglan and others stood firm and fought back the enemies one after another. Seeing that it was getting dark, and the ammunition was almost running out, the young soldier listening to the trumpet came over and said to Chang Menglan: Platoon commander, there has been no trumpet sound. The company commander is probably already at loggerheads with the enemy. It's getting dark now, let's retreat first!
Chang Menglan knew very well in his heart what the consequences would be if he continued to fight. His rich combat experience made him understand that the enemy was actually just charging tentatively now. After a while, the enemy would definitely intensify their firepower. But the trumpet didn't sound, so he didn't dare to bet, and he couldn't bet. If the bet was wrong, it would put the entire army of soldiers in danger. He had no choice but to give the order, the trumpet didn't sound, and he couldn't retreat. Keep fighting!
In this way, the eight people continued to block the enemy tenaciously in their positions, and repelled several enemy attacks one after another. At this time, the sky was completely dark. So far, the eight of them had blocked the enemy's large force for nearly two hours. As Chang Menglan expected, the enemy stopped charging. As the flares in the sky illuminated the night, artillery shells fell on the position one after another. Two soldiers died immediately. With the cover of artillery fire, the enemy quickly rushed in front of the soldiers. The close combat began. Facing a flood of enemies, the soldiers had to fight on their own. Chang Menglan miraculously broke out after stabbing several enemies to death.
After breaking through, Chang Menglan began to inquire about the whereabouts of the large troops along the way. However, due to frequent wars, Chang Menglan traveled to many places without knowing any news about his troops, so he had no choice but to return to his hometown.
Although Chang Menglan miraculously broke through and survived, his heart was filled with endless sadness and guilt. He guessed that the remaining soldiers should have died because he insisted on waiting until the trumpet sounded. And the most important thing is that Chang Menglan believes that as a soldier, if he does not return to his original army after the interception, it means that the mission is not over.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Chang Menglan approached a department in Beijing that specialized in collecting people lost during the war. At this time, his identity was finally confirmed, but the head of the department told him that his original troops had entered North Korea to participate in the war, and asked him to go back and wait for news. After , Chang Menglan waited for news while looking for traces of his former troops. In this way, for more than 40 years, Chang Menglan has been to the Northeast and Shijiazhuang; he has looked for old comrades and asked the military region troops, but he has never received exact information.
This matter finally turned around in 1984, when a military academy established a training ground in the north of Chang Menglan's village. Chang Menglan felt like meeting a relative. He often went to help the troops cook, boil water, and clean the site. The army offered to give him some reward, but Chang Menglan refused, but hoped that the army would give him some old military uniforms.
As time passed, the officers and soldiers in the army all knew what Chang Menglan was worried about. In the end, Major General Dingqing, the deputy director of the college, decided to help find the old troops. Because of the passage of time, the organizational structure of many troops has changed, so it was not until 1996 that Wang Dingqing found out that a certain group army of the Shenyang Military Region was the fourth column of the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Region where Chang Menglan was stationed at that time, and the one stationed in Benxi, Liaoning Province The predecessor of a ground artillery regiment was Chang Menglan's 30th regiment.
After hearing that the original unit was found, 71-year-old Chang Menglan packed his luggage that night and set off for the Northeast early in the morning. Chang Menglan finally found Benxi , only to find out that the troops had changed their defense to another town. Because it happened to be New Year's Eve, Chang Menglan couldn't find a car at all. Finally, Chang Menglan decided to walk to the army barracks.
In this way, on New Year's Eve, a 71-year-old man walked step by step in the snow towards the military camp of his dreams. But after all, he was old, cold and hungry, so Chang Menglan fainted not far from the entrance of the army. Fortunately, a supply truck found Chang Menglan and sent her to the barracks. Captain Wang of the
unit listened quietly to Chang Menglan's account of his experience, because he knew that the tragic blocking battle of did exist in the regiment's history. And luckily, Chang Menglan is on a photo in the regiment's honor room. That was a group photo taken by a reporter from Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Daily for the heroes of the Thirty Regiment when Shijiazhuang was liberated. At that time, Chang Menglan led the assault platoon to first seize Yunpan Mountain, a commanding height on the battlefield, and therefore made a meritorious service.
At this time, Chang Menglan saluted the current regiment leader in tears: " report! I was ordered to lead seven soldiers of the fifth squad on November 19, 1948, to perform a blocking mission in Sangyuan Town, Yanqing County to cover the retreat of the entire regiment. , in accordance with the orders of the superiors, I persisted until the end. During the battle, I was separated from the troops, two soldiers died, and the whereabouts of the rest are unknown...Please give instructions to the leader!"
The young regiment leader also had tears in his eyes, and then responded: "Chang Menglan Comrade, you have accomplished your combat mission very well! On behalf of all the officers and soldiers of the regiment, I salute you!" After verifying Chang Menglan's identity, the army hoped to send him to the Military Academy to spend his remaining years, but Chang Menglan refused. Later, the army sent him veterans' allowance, but Chang Menglan still did not receive it. He said: "I came to the troops to do business, not to get treatment."
But unfortunately, Chang Menglan's former company commander He Youhai and others all died on the Korean battlefield. Why did the company commander at that time The failure to blow the bugle as promised has become an eternal mystery.
