The book describes that in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, there was a man named Gu Wailing in Suzhou City who had two sons and one daughter. His daughter married the third son of Zhang Jiansheng in the city, so she was called "Zhang Sanniangzi". Zhang Sanlang is a playboy who does nothing but eat, drink, whore, and gamble. Later, he went to Nanjing and became a prison student, but he never changed his bad habits.
Mrs. Zhang Sanniang fell in love with her husband, and she also "had bad luck" and stole people every night. After giving birth to a child, he became more and more out of control, "chao Zhang Mu Li", and his reputation spread far and wide. However, Zhang San, a supervisor, repented, divorced his wife, took his son to Beijing to work as a supervisor, and married Zhao Yuge, a prostitute.
