The Ruhe River makes a circle at the junction of Xincai County in Zhengyang, Henan Province, and then flows eastward. The touching story of Liu and Deng's army forcibly crossing the Ru River is left here and has been recorded in the annals of revolutionary history. This year, the "Memorial Hall of Liu and Deng's Forces Crossing the Ru River" was built on the Ru River in Daleigang Village, Youfangdian Township, Zhengyang County, and has begun to receive tourists from inside and outside the province.
On the square of the memorial hall stands a group sculpture of "The brave will win when we meet on a narrow road". On August 23, 1947, Liu and Deng's army leapt thousands of miles into the Dabie Mountains of . Here they encountered the dangerous situation of enemy troops forming up to block the road and pursuing troops from behind. The forced crossing of the Ru River was the most critical and fiercest battle. Deng Xiaoping said resolutely and forcefully: "Now there is no other way out except to fight resolutely." Liu Bocheng said: "Now we must use offensive means to deal with the attacking enemy. When we meet on a narrow road, the brave will win!". In the early morning of the 25th, the battle to forcibly cross the Ru River began. After a fierce battle, the officers and soldiers opened a bloody road 5 kilometers long and 4 kilometers wide. By 4 p.m., more than 40,000 troops marched south and more than 200 carts successfully crossed the Ru River.
