1927

On July 15th, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council approved and forwarded the two reports of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and the Fujian Provincial Party Committee on the implementation of special policies and flexible measures for foreign economic activities, and decided to set up a pilot export zone in Shenzhen and Zhuhai. On May 16, 1980, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council approved and forwarded the "Minutes of the Meeting of Guangdong and Fujian Provinces", officially renaming the export zone as a special economic zone. In August, the 15th meeting of the Standing Committee of the Fifth National People's Congress approved Guangdong and Fujian provinces to set up special economic zones in Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Shantou and Xiamen.
