For a long time at Konami, Hideo Kojima focused almost exclusively on making the "Metal Gear Solid" series of games, and he made no secret of his desire to leave the IP and try new things. Now, as an independent developer, he and his Kojima Productions team have the freedom to do whatever they want, and as Death Stranding proves, they're not averse to taking risks.

But is it possible that at some point in the future, Kojima decides to re-commit to a large-scale existing IP? Will Kojima Productions finally develop a known, existing IP franchise?
This seems to be what Kojima is against. In a recent interview with IGN, when it came to the projects currently underway at the studio, he explained that his approach to all current and future projects is to "leave good work behind" rather than chasing financial growth - which, according to Kojima, means he will only focus on the studio's own original work, rather than making licensed stuff.
He said: "Kojima Studio has not yet been listed, so I have no goal of stably developing the company." "I just want to leave good works, which is my stance when making games, and also consider making other types of visual projects. We will continue to adhere to the position of producing our own IP rather than using IP authorized by others."
Considering Kojima's past projects, it goes without saying that many fans would like to see him return to Metal Gear Solid one day, and it was previously reported that he was involved in the development of Silent Hill. Although the possibility of this happening cannot be completely ruled out now, it is obvious that this is not the direction Kojima wants.
Having said that, fans now have a lot to look forward to. "Death Stranding 2" is in development for PS5, and the studio is also working on a cloud-native Xbox exclusive game. It is revealed that this is a horror game called "Overdose".
