After the success of " Fortnite " overshadowed "Example", Epic shut down the MOBA server just two years after the beta version of the game was released. Now, thanks to free resources for games on Unreal Mall and a trademark agreement with Epic, Paramount returns four years later, despite a new title and new ownership.
As PC Gamer pointed out, Paragon: The Overprime is a Paragon remake developed by Korean studio Netmarble. The free game is currently in public beta until November 21. It will enter Steam and Epic Games Mall in the near future, but it is not clear when the full game will be released.
According to the Epic Game Store page of Paragon: The Overprime, it will work as a live service game when released, with new heroes added over time.
"We invite you to Prime, the hero symphony of space opera reverberates in the universe," the game's slogan reads.
When the server of "Unreal Mall" was shut down, Epic released $12 million worth of "Unreal Mall" resources on "Unreal Mall for free. Some other games have taken advantage of their assets since their release in 2018, although this marks the first time Epic has granted studios a license to adopt the Paragon brand.
Epic initially shut down Paragon's server in 2018, and soon slowed down its development speed and focused on Fortnite. Before it died, we called Paragon “just as beautiful and exciting” in our 2016 preview.
