has seen an amazing outbreak of popularity after the recent early access update completely changed all game content including multiplayer and combat.
This game has been around for 11 years, but the number of players surged last month. Developer Indie Stone released the latest update roadmap for the game today (January 7), telling players what new content will be next. Officials say they still have a long way to go before they can actually complete the Zombie Destruction Project, and update plans, including NPCs and pets, are being formulated.
In the latest announcement, Independent Stone stated that human NPC has always been one of the most popular features in the game. In the next few updates, adding new human NPC zombies is the top priority. Although the specific time is not specified in the roadmap, we can still understand the official launch plan for the next few versions.
Indie Stone said: "Before the development of NPCs is completed, we will have a second development team dedicated to developing faster, lower risky but still very cool content patches, and relaying between other NPC updates to keep the content updated continuously."
As for the actual content of these NPC updates, the official has not decided yet. The development team said, "It may include independent NPCs that players can team up, or it may mainly include reintroduction of story mode, or NPC animals, or these will be postponed."
"We have a lot of NPC codes, many cool systems, including "Friendly World" style priority and work system, personality system, random story event system, combat system, autonomous survival behavior, advanced group behavior system, vehicle driving system, and more." But these codes "will take some time to reintroduce the latest version and make MP compatible." Officials will evaluate the feasibility of these NPC updates and ensure that future updates are worth the players' long-term waiting.
The developer's longer-term goal is to strengthen the production system so that players can make items that can only be obtained through exploration and search. Officials hope to provide players with more ultimate goals, such as building an ever-expanding community over time, rather than deleting archives and starting from scratch.
"Our goal is to allow higher levels of community building, promote trade and the possibility of producing years of stories and rich history in the same world. This will include the NPC population as well as MP servers, which will span the survival time of many player characters."
The current Zombie Destruction Project continues to be sold on Steam in a fresh experience. The game supports simplified Chinese, and the national price is 70 yuan.
