Hackers once again set their sights on the gaming industry this week, especially large game developers like Take-Two Interactive. This Tuesday, 2K Games, the developer's subsidiary, issued an announcement saying that an "unauthorized third party" had hacked into its support community and used the platform to send malicious links to customers.

Just 1 day ago, the developer's Rockstar confirmed to be hacked, resulting in a large amount of development data from "GTA VI" being stolen and exposed on the Internet. Although there is currently no evidence that this 2K invasion is related to the previous Rockstar incident, both are affiliated with Take-Two Interactive. It was a particularly devastating week for the parent company’s safety record.

2K Games is the publisher of many popular games, covering sports, shooting and action types, including " Borderlands ", " Bioshock ", " Civilization ", and the NBA 2K and WWE 2K series. Overall, hundreds of millions of sets of these games have been sold: as of 2021, 112 million copies have been sold in the NBA 2K series alone.
According to Bleeping Computer, many 2K customers received emails on Tuesday referring to their yet-to-be-created Zendesk support tickets. The email is accompanied by the ziph file, which contains executable programs marked as the new launcher of 2K games, but actually contains information-stealing malware called RedLine.
