In March 2020, as a member of the tenth batch of cadres aiding Xinjiang in Henan Province, I came to Hami, Xinjiang from Zhengzhou, Henan to engage in animal epidemic prevention and control. As soon as I arrived at , Hami , I started to visit and investigate and found that the degree of intensive breeding here is not very high, and mainly grazing. I was thinking about how to use technology to help farmers reduce the risk of animal epidemics and increase their income. In the past two years, I have visited various pastoral areas of Hami City, , hiking cattle and sheep pens and entering chicken coops. I have introduced Lu's green shell egg seedlings chick seedlings from Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
Previously, Hami City carried out nearly 100,000 animal disease monitoring in a year. The report needs to be filled in manually, and the experimental data requires manual statistics, which is large in workload and low in efficiency. With the support of the Henan Provincial Aid to Xinjiang Office and relevant departments in Hami City, I actively matched and built a new pathology and parasitology testing laboratory, established a three-level animal epidemic measurement and reporting network at the municipal, county and township levels, and built an information management system that radiated to all municipal and county veterinary laboratories, and improved the monitoring and early warning level. I also worked with the staff of the recipient unit to achieve two business achievements, fill 3 technical gaps, complete 4 scientific research projects, apply for 5 national patents, and formulate 7 local standards.
In the past two years, I have witnessed the rapid development of the animal husbandry industry in Xinjiang and the changes in the lives of farmers and herdsmen. A batch of specialty agricultural and livestock products have gone out of Xinjiang and to the whole country, making farmers and herdsmen’s pockets bulge.
