Yugong Port is a natural deep-water port in the northern suburbs of Changsha. It is 5,000 tons of navigation all year round. It can navigate 10,000 tons of ships during the flood season. It is located in Santang Town, Xiangyin section of Xiangjiang River. It is at the intersection of the "four waters" of Xiangjiang River entering Dongting Lake and Xiangzi Yuanli (112°53'45" east longitude and 28°47'48" north latitude). It can reach the Changsha Navigation and Power Hub by 59 kilometers upstream to the Xiangjiang River, and 87 kilometers downstream to Chenglingji. It is the inland port with the best geographical conditions in the province. It has unique development advantages and great development value.
As early as October 2020, the General Office of the Hunan Provincial Government clearly stated: Support the new district to build a deep-water port based on Yugong Port and improve its ability to connect rivers and seas. In April this year, the Hunan Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government issued the "Several Opinions on Implementing the Strategy of Strengthening Provincial Capital Supporting the High-Quality Development of Changsha City", and Xiangyin Yugonggang was included as an important water transportation hub project for the "Strength Provincial Capital" strategy. On September 19, Changsha City and Xiangjiang New District once again closely deployed and dispatched the planning, development and construction progress of Yugong Port.
On November 22, 2020, the "Yueyang Port Master Plan (2035)" officially approved by the Ministry of Transport and the Provincial Government, which clearly stated that "Xiangyin Port Area mainly carries groceries, dry bulk cargo, container transportation, and also has tourist passenger transport. The port coastline is 1,620 meters long and 13 standard berths are planned to be built". It is the only port area outside Chenglingji Port Area that retains container operation functions. In accordance with the positioning of Chenglingji Sub-port, Changsha-Zhuzhou-Tanzhou Hub Port, and Xiangjiang New Area's dedicated port, the planning of the Xiangjiang Yugong Port and port area will be scientifically compiled. The short-term plan will be 20 square kilometers and the long-term plan will be 50 square kilometers.
