Later Prince Yi Yunxiang, Minister Gao Qizhuo and Hong Wenlan, Minister of Revenue, who is good at feng shui, found an excellent "hundred-year auspicious land" in Taiping Valley of Yongning Mountain in Yizhou . So they tried their best to recommend it to Yongzheng. They claimed that the land was "a area where the universe gathers and beautifully, and the place where yin and yang merge. The dragon cave is sand and gravel, and it is beautiful and the situation is rational and the qi is good, and all the auspiciousness is good."
Yongzheng read their report I think it is reasonable, but choosing such a treasure land obviously goes against the ancestral teaching of "the son is buried with the father". Isn't it necessary? I feel reluctant to let it go. So he hinted that the ministers verified him, and there was something unreasonable about the tombs and the imperial regulations.
These ministers knew Yongzheng's thoughts very well, and immediately organized people to quote from the vast historical books, proving that emperors of all dynasties did not fully follow the system of "sons are buried with their fathers". They also listed , Emperor Gaozu of Han, Emperor Wen, Emperor Jing, Emperor Wu burial Xianyang , Chang'an , Gaoling, Xingping and other places. Shortly after Qianlong ascended the throne, he began to look for the tombs, considering the separation of the Dongling and Xiling places: "I ordered to ascend to the great treasure. I originally wanted to build a lucky place near Tailing, but because I thought that the Huangkao Mausoleum was in the west , I have been setting up a lucky place for thousands of years and then relying on the imperial examination. Tens of thousands of years later, my descendants also thought of relying on my father and grandfather, and they all chose the west of Jijing. Then the Xiaoling and Jingling Road on Xingdong Road are dispersed every day, which is not enough to show I think filial and admire me.”
Therefore, he built Yuling in the Holy Water Valley in the Dongling territory, and ordered the emperors to choose to build tombs in the Dongling and Xiling areas.
Jiaqing , the Supreme Emperor Qianlong ordered Jiaqing to choose auspicious places in the Xiling Realm and establish a system of burial between father and son of the Qing Dynasty. Unfortunately, these systems cannot be maintained.
In the first year of Daoguang, Daoguang followed the system of east-west burial of father and son and chose auspicious places in the Dongling Realm.
