Draw a character

- Keep things simple. More details will be added later.
Draw the roots of the hair
Fill everything with black. You can use bucket tools to run faster.
Additionally, use a maru or g-pen to add more detail to the hair.
Tip: Adjust the size of the pen to make it more interesting.
Select the layer properties
Duplicate the layer with hair. Hide one of them.
use the selection tool to select your hair!
go to the selection attributes and reduce the selection to 2 or 3 pixels.
go to color representation and change the option from solid color to grayscale!
Just above this option, select the Screen Tone option to set the layer to screen tint.
With this option you create a screen tint that can be adjusted by using the air brush to adjust the hair.
You can change the setting options for this screen tint effect if you want, but use the default options for this tutorial.
Paint the lights with airbrush
Pick up the airbrush and select white.
If you don't want to go pure white yet, you can use gray, as long as it's whiter than the black you used for your hair. You can use different shades of gray and paint them with the Smudge Tool (Step 7) to create a nice gradient as the base of your hair.

Blend the edges and use the Smudge Tool
Use the Smudge Tool to blend the white and soften the edges. This will improve the appearance of the gradient.

Also, if you feel that some areas are white, choose a darker tone and use an airbrush to change the gradient to darken some areas.
Draw shading
Use a round pen or G pen to draw shading on hair or different stripes. Be creative with
, pay attention to where the light will go and where there will be shadows on your hair.
In my painting, the light is coming from the left side of the image, so there will be less light on the right side of the hair.
Add details
Add details for creating different layers using the same options (grayscale and screen tint effects).

please don't worry. The smudge tool doesn't turn everything gray, and the dots in the mesh are still there.
Add stronger light
Create another layer (same properties: grayscale and screen tint effect)
Take the airbrush and select white to add a strong white effect reflection to your hair.

Add more light effects and reflections
You can repeat the same process and keep adding more details!
don't forget to create another layer on top and use grayscale and screen effects.
