I am Claudia Fuggetti, a visual artist in Italy, and I created a series of portraits using an image database.
I use artificial intelligence to create these portraits. In globalization, social media and image capitalism allow us to eliminate differences, connotations and distances, with positive and negative consequences.
Héxis is a Greek word used by Aristotle from which the Latin word habitus is derived. This word has various other meanings besides " dress ", which is closely related to the concept of identity . The visual investigation I present stems from the need to reconsider and revise the dimension related to identity in the digital environment , and closely related to social media.
It's getting harder and harder for us to understand whether the people we come into contact with are real: stolen identities, apps that alter facial and physical features, and more that create a sense of instability. Realistic images that have been modified are not very different from those images where people create for . People almost have to ask themselves if we still care if what we see is real.
Héxis is a project based on a series of portraits showing ephemeral human, fictional , fleeting identities, thanks to an image dataset that mixes abstract patterns with human faces to create a mixed dimensions.
