October 25 is the 103rd anniversary of the birth of the famous old "play bone" Li Wei . He was paralyzed in the hospital bed for 11 years and was even plagued by illness. Unfortunately, he had passed away for 17 years. It is a pity to think of the wonderful characters left by the old artists for Chinese films.
In fact, during the more than 60 years of art, Li Wei has participated in only more than 50 works, which is not strictly speaking. But he has portrayed quite a few famous characters.
These characters are such as Zhang Zhichen, an intellectual in " Spring in Small Town ", Shang Youlin, a young worker in " Sisters Stand Up HTML ", a stubborn son Haifu in "My Life", a traitor Lin Dong in "South Island Storm", and a Nurse Diary in "Nurse Diary" The selfish Shen Haoru, the hypocrite Yu Shude in "Who is the Abandoned", the intelligence section chief Ma Fugen in "Soldier Station No. 51", the acrobatic artist Hua Shaojie in "Flying Daohua", the theater boss Manager Tang in "Stage Sisters", the spy leader Zhao Kang in "Blue Archives", the rural old man Xu Mao in "Xu Mao and His Daughters", the stingy and hypocritical Zhao Taiye in "The True Story of Ah Q", and the dyeing workshop boss Yang Jinshan in "Ju Dou".
The talented Li Wei has loved acting since he was a child. He was born on October 25, 1919 in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province. His original name was Li Zhiyuan. Like him, his two younger brothers Li Nong and Li Zhiyu later became movie actors. The famous "Three Brothers in Shanghai Film World" refers to them.
Since the film industry, Li Wei has always been grateful to the old film director Fe Mu for his kindness. Although he has starred in movies such as "The Sky", "Six Records of Life", and "Steping in the Sky", they are all supporting roles. Until 1948, Fei Mu chose Zhang Zhichen, a petty-bourgeois intellectual who played him in "Spring of the Small Town", which allowed him to improve his acting skills and open up his acting career, and at the same time he became famous overnight.
The quiet and melancholy "Spring in a Small City" was once rated as the "Top Ten Classic Business Cards of the World" by the world's authoritative film organization. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Chinese films, the Hong Kong Film Awards Association and the Hong Kong Film Review Society invited 101 directors, film critics and cultural scholars to vote to vote for 100 century-old movies, and "Spring in a Small Town" ranked first.
"Spring in the Small Town" established Li Wei's position in the history of film. In 1997, the China Film Archives held the "Femu Film Seminar". Li Wei, who had been paralyzed for many years, rushed from Shanghai to Beijing in a wheelchair to thank his senior Fei Mu for his support and love. This public appearance is also the last time in Li Wei's life.
"Nurse Diary" released in 1957 is also an important masterpiece of Li Wei. In the film, he and Wang Danfeng, the 22-year-old movie star in New China, played a couple. Jian Suhua, played by Wang Danfeng, ignored the opposition of her boyfriend Shen Haoru, played by Li Wei, and after graduation, she resolutely came from Shanghai to work at the construction site medical station that the motherland needs most. The selfish Shen Haoru forced her to return to Shanghai, which made people hate it. In addition to "Nurse Diary", the two also starred in " Caifeng Double Flying " released in 1951. The film tells the story of Jin Xiaofeng played by Wang Danfeng and young carpenter Zhou Caigen breaking through numerous obstacles and pursuing a happy life.
Li Wei also has good cooperation with many other old actors, such as he has collaborated with Sun Daolin for four movies, namely "The Great Thunderstorm", "South Island Storm", "Soldier No. 51" and "The True Story of Ah Q". In "The Great Thunderstorm" released in 1949, Sun Daolin played Guo Qingyuan and Li Wei played Jin Sheng; in "The Storm of the South Island" released in 1955, they played the instructor Han Chengguang and the traitor Lin Dong respectively; in "Soldier Station No. 51" released in 1961, the two played our political commissar and enemy intelligence chief Ma Fugen; in "The True Story of Ah Q" released in 1981, Li Wei played the Weizhuang landlord Zhao Taiye, and Sun Daolin was the narrator of the movie.
Li Wei not only has superb acting skills, but also has a wide acting career, is good at portraying characters, and has both front and back sides. He can have both supporting roles. His performance is good at "entering" characters, and the characters he creates can often be amazing and is known as the "one with a thousand face on the screen."
However, due to a sudden stroke, Li Wei was paralyzed in the hospital bed for 11 years and suffered from illness. On August 21, 2005, Li Wei passed away at the age of 86.
Li Wei acted seriously and was a low-key person. He was both a good person and a good role. His sincere and accurate role creation and superb and moving performance were amazing. The former leader of the Shanghai Film Actors Troupe, Xiang Mei, once praised him: "The whole body is full of drama, one's eyes and one's laughter are all in drama." Li Wei’s old artist dedicated his life to the Chinese film industry and deserves the admiration of the younger generations in the entertainment industry!
