School history:
Weifang Medical College is a full-time general higher medical school in Shandong Province. It is located in the famous world kite capital-Weifang City in the middle of Shandong Peninsula. The history of the school can be traced back to the Ledaoyuan Medical School and Weixian American Presbyterian Hospital established in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by Weixian Ledaoyuan. In 1951, preparations were made to establish Shandong Province Changwei Medical School. In 1958, it was renamed Changwei Medical College. In 1987, it was renamed Weifang Medical College.
started undergraduate education in 1958. In 1986, it became the third batch of master's degree awarding units in the country. In 1998, it was qualified to recruit international students. In 2012, it was approved to serve the country's special needs doctoral talent training project unit. In 2019, the "Major Health Risk Prediction and Governance Strategies in the Context of Healthy China" research project was approved to recruit postdoctoral researchers. The school is a pilot university for the National Excellent Doctor Education and Training Program, a famous school construction unit for the cultivation of applied talents in Shandong Province, a school established for the Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program of Shandong Province, one of the first batch of supporting units for the construction of applied undergraduate universities in Shandong Province, and a university jointly built by the Shandong Provincial Department of Education, the Shandong Provincial Health Commission and the Weifang Municipal People's Government.
The school has two campuses: Fuyanshan Campus and Yuhe Campus, covering an area of about 1,800 acres, with a construction area of more than 2.65 million square meters. There are currently more than 15,000 full-time students on campus, including 37 doctoral candidates, more than 22,300 postgraduate students, more than 13,000 undergraduates, and more than 300 international students. There are Ledao Academy, Jishi Academy and Confucius School. The library has a collection of more than 1.6 million books (including electronic books), 2 directly affiliated hospitals, 11 non-directly affiliated hospitals, and 14 provincial joint graduate training bases.
Currently there is 1 doctoral talent training program in public health crisis management, 11 first-level master's degree programs, 8 professional master's degree programs, and 57 second-level master's degree programs.

The school currently has more than 1,500 faculty and staff. Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Xie Lixin and Yu Jinming are honorary presidents.
