Chengdu University of Science and Technology Environment and Development Association (hereinafter referred to as "Environmental Development Association") is a leading association of environmental protection associations in Sichuan University Association Alliance. Relying on the discipline advantages of the environmental science and engineering major of the school's Ecological Environment College in geological disaster environmental governance, groundwater environmental governance and protection, and ecological environment restoration, it actively carries out various popular science and education activities related to environmental science and engineering majors, and takes advantage of its long-term social influence to carry out colorful and distinctive activities in environmental protection publicity and education, environmental protection volunteer services, and popularization of environmental protection science knowledge, which has played an important role in the school's " Double First-Class " discipline construction and campus culture construction, and has achieved remarkable results.
"Environmental Development Association" was established on November 28, 1999. It is a student club led by the school Youth League Committee, guided by the Youth League Committee of the School of Environment and Civil Engineering before 2020, and directly guided by the Youth League Committee of the School of Ecological Environment after May 2020. It is also a group member unit of the Sichuan Science Society and Chengdu Urban River Research Association.
Excellent community active in the front line of campus culture construction
For many years, the association has adhered to the purpose of the association "enhance environmental awareness, advocates health concepts, improves national quality, and promotes social development", constantly pioneering and innovating, keeping pace with the times, and has long been engaged in environmental protection volunteer services and environmental protection publicity and education activities, which not only promotes green ecological culture on and outside the campus, but also plays a unique function for campus culture construction. The association also combines environmental governance and organizes members and volunteers to use their professional knowledge and skills to carry out innovative practical activities for ecological and environmental protection and restoration. With the guidance of serving the society, it implements ecological and environmental protection concepts and social responsibility in the practical activities of college students in ecological and environmental protection majors. This not only promotes the improvement of students' professional quality and comprehensive qualities, but also solves many social problems related to environmental protection.
The Environmental Development Association has established long-term and stable cooperative relationships with government environmental protection agencies such as the former Sichuan Provincial Department of Environmental Protection, Sichuan Provincial Environmental Protection Propaganda Center, and many influential environmental protection organizations such as the China Environmental Protection Foundation and the China Environmental Science Association. With its strong support, it has successfully held large-scale environmental protection publicity activities many times.
Colorful practical activities have become a characteristic brand of campus culture
In the process of carrying out a series of activities, the association has inherited the scientific concepts closely related to the ecological geological environment. Relying on the scientific research advantages of geological disaster prevention and control and protection National Key Laboratory and the National Key Laboratory for Environmental Protection Water and Soil Pollution Collaborative Control and Joint Restoration, with the assistance and support of Sichuan Provincial Department of Environmental Protection, environmental protection government agencies, and the China Environmental Protection Foundation, many large-scale events have been successfully held.
For example: 6.5 "Little Ring" series of environmental day activities, "Little Ring" logo design competition, the cumulative number of visits reached more than 30,000; World Ozone Layer Protection Day, Green Little Superman Series of activities, water conservation lecturers, monthly environmental music festival, waste battery recycling, protection Chengdu Nanhe , the first Sichuan Provincial Colleges and Universities "Future Environmental Protection" Design Competition, etc. The total number of activities reached more than a thousand times, with more than 10,000 students participating in it, and the influence of the activities spread across the country.
In recent years, the Environmental Development Association has successively invited experts and scholars from the National Geological Disaster Prevention and Control and Environmental Protection National Laboratory, the National Environmental Protection Laboratory, the College of Bio-Environment and the School of Environmental Engineering to provide professional guidance to the association. The association also used the holiday to organize environmental protection volunteers to conduct environmental protection research and visits in old revolutionary areas such as Heishui County, Sichuan Province, and in places such as Chongzhou , Gaoxian, and Longquanyi . It wrote a detailed investigation report for the local government and won the title of "Thousands of Countryside, Ten Thousand Villages, Environmental Protection Going to the Countryside Activities" in the country; the association also went to Ruoergai to investigate desertification control, helping to build " Beautiful China "; it established a cooperative relationship with Longtan Huatai Community, and carried out ecological and environmental protection and other theme activities regularly every month, and was recognized and commended by the Propaganda Department of the Chengdu Municipal Party Committee and other departments.Today, the Chengdu University of Technology Environmental Development Association has become an important carrier for cultural practice education for students and a distinctive brand of school campus cultural practice activities.
