On September 29, in Cangzhou, Hebei, several teachers from a school organized an event to lead students to hand-paint nearly 300 exquisite paper plate paintings with Chinese style elements, and used them to form Chinese dragon patterns to welcome the National Day and celebrate the birthday of the motherland.

The circular paper plate is painted with dramatic facials, 0,000-mile Great Wall , the twelve zodiac signs, fifty-six ethnic groups and many other Chinese cultural elements. They are closely arranged together to form a flying Chinese dragon.

htmlOn September 30, the event organizer, Mr. Cheng Ruidong, told 9Pai News that these paintings were drawn by the students under the guidance of the teacher in their spare time and took nearly half a month to complete.

Teacher Cheng said that the inspiration for drawing paper plate paintings comes from short video platforms. Many bloggers use discs to draw cartoon characters from foreign countries such as Doraemon and Dingdang Cat.

He thought that Chinese traditional culture elements can be incorporated into it and created it, so as to spread Chinese traditional culture and protect intangible cultural heritage .

In order to turn the idea into reality, Teacher Cheng contacted several other art teachers in the school and ordered many paper trays for cakes. He selected eight students with painting skills in each grade of the school, and organized everyone to draw paper trays for Chinese elements together.

Twelve zodiac signs, twenty-four solar terms, traditional festivals, drama Facebook, Yangtze River Yellow River, famous scenic spots, 56 ethnic groups portraits, etc., are presented on paper plates under the pens of children and teachers, full of Chinese cultural elements.

They outlined the outline with pencil and carbon pen , filled with markers, and supplemented with gouache. Among them, complex paintings, such as dramatic facials, are mostly completed by art teachers. The twelve zodiac signs, fifty-six ethnic groups, etc. are relatively simple and cute, and students will draw them.

as National Day approaches, and everyone has also drawn many paintings celebrating the birthday of the motherland. Some children suggested that all paper plates can be drawn into a flying dragon, and the meaning of Chinese culture has been combined into a flying dragon.

After finalizing the idea, the teachers first found the flying dragon pictures online, carried out new designs, and printed them into a large canvas with a length of 10 meters and a width of 10 meters.

Then, the dragon canvas was spread flat on the ground. The students put the works one by one on the flying dragon according to the theme of the painting: the dragon's head is released for the National Day blessing, the dragon's belly is released for the twenty-four solar terms and fifty-six ethnic groups, and the dragon's tail is released for the twelve zodiac signs, etc.

Just like that, nearly 300 pieces of paper-plate paintings were finally formed into a soaring Chinese dragon.

Teacher Cheng mentioned that the students' patriotism was very high. Everyone held red flags in their hands and surrounded the canvas to celebrate their motherland's birthday and express their love for the motherland.

In addition, Teacher Cheng said that the activity of drawing Chinese traditional culture paper plate paintings will continue to be organized and expanded to all students in the school to cultivate students' hands-on ability and let students experience the heritage of Chinese culture personally. In the future, we will also consider making everyone's works into a landscape wall of the school.

He recalled that when he first drew these paper-tray paintings, everyone worked very hard and thought about giving up, but then he thought about it and that he should do this well.

"Promoting Chinese traditional culture and allowing children to understand these cultures more deeply is a very meaningful thing. So everyone finally persevered."

Teacher Cheng said that at first, the children only knew the fifty-six ethnic groups, but they did not know which ethnic groups were there and what stories were there. After the painting, everyone could talk freely and gain a lot of knowledge. He hopes that the children can add more strength to the motherland in the future and make the motherland more prosperous.
