" Our children's current grades are very average. They may not be able to get into a particularly good university in the college entrance examination. In the future, they will definitely take the postgraduate entrance examination. ".
I don’t know since when, the postgraduate entrance examination has become a daily topic for many parents when talking about their children.
Recently, some teachers said that the postgraduate entrance examination has become a second "college entrance examination" .
It is undeniable that the postgraduate entrance examination has indeed attracted more and more attention from parents of college students!

In 2023, there will be as many as 4.74 million people taking the postgraduate entrance examination. Although it is only an increase of 300,000 compared with 2022, it has reached a historical high.
We need to know that there will only be 4.31 million undergraduates graduating in 2023 (based on the 2019 undergraduate enrollment number of 4.31288 million).
Excluding past students among the number of people taking the postgraduate entrance examination in 2023, at least 50% of the people taking the postgraduate entrance examination in 2023 may be fresh graduates. Therefore, the postgraduate entrance examination rate is equivalent to more than 50%.
01 Among undergraduate graduates, 60% choose to pursue graduate studies?
Recently, "University of International Business and Economics " also released its "2022 Graduate Employment Quality Report".

According to data in the report, the number of undergraduate graduates in 2022 will be 1,921. Among them, the number of graduates who choose domestic studies (graduate studies) is 676, accounting for 35.19% of the total number of undergraduate graduates.

Then, the number of graduates who chose to study abroad (graduate school) was 445, accounting for 33.17% of the total number of undergraduate graduates.
The total number of undergraduate graduates is 1,121, accounting for nearly 60% of the total number of graduates.
In other words, among the 2022 undergraduate graduates of the University of International Business and Economics, only more than 30% of the candidates directly choose to find employment.
In fact, this high rate of undergraduates going to graduate school is not an exception.
Coincidentally, Southern University of Science and Technology (Southern University of Science and Technology) also released its "Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering" 2022 undergraduate graduates' employment quality report.
Data shows that the overall undergraduate employment and enrollment rate is as high as 98.08%. Among them, the employment rate of is only 19.23%, while the enrollment rate is as high as 78.85%.

As for some other better "985" universities, the postgraduate study rate of their undergraduate graduates will be higher, most of them may exceed 50%, and many are close to 60%, for example, Nanjing University, etc.
It can be seen that postgraduate study has become an important career plan for many undergraduates.
So the question is, so many undergraduates choose to go to graduate school after graduation. Are there really so many majors that require graduate school?
I think this question is also a question that many students and parents want to ask!
02 The key to the problem is not the major, but the "involution"
If you want to know the accurate answer to this question, it is very simple. Just look at how many universities in your major have opened "master's degree awarding points" .
The more "master's degree awarding points" there are, the more people are studying for graduate school in this major. At the same time, it also shows that the employment threshold in the entire industry is relatively high, for example, some majors that favor science and medicine.

is like biology, chemistry, materials science , medicine and other majors.
If you want better employment in these majors, maybe 90% of the positions will have academic requirements, and a master's degree or above may also be a basic requirement.
Therefore, such majors as postgraduate study are basically "rigidly needed". Whether you are studying at home for postgraduate study or studying abroad, you have to choose one, unless you choose to change careers after graduation.
As for other majors that seem to have little to do with "research", especially some traditional engineering majors, such as computer, civil engineering, mechanical engineering and other majors.
Do you think it is necessary to go to graduate school for engineering majors like these?
Obviously not, because, , if you have been studying for graduate school for three years, you may not be as useful as the work experience accumulated by others who have worked for three years.

So, is there no need to go to graduate school?
is not the same, because, everyone is "involving" and everyone is studying for graduate school. You think it is not necessary to study for graduate school, so you choose to "lay down", but you cannot control the competitors around you to go to graduate school.
With the increasing number of graduate students, some companies have become more and more picky, and the requirements for talent recruitment are also increasing.
This may no longer be a question of actual demand, but a question of "face". For example, for a company with more than 80% of its employees having postgraduate education, will its qualifications suddenly improve a lot?
Therefore, students in these majors studying for graduate school may just be "involved" as a last resort, and there are some more "realistic" reasons.
went to graduate school in order to have a higher employment platform;
went to graduate school in order to have a higher salary.

These may be the main reasons why more and more undergraduate graduates choose to go to graduate school!
Based on the above analysis, when studying for graduate school, you basically don’t need to consider whether your major is suitable for graduate school. You only need to regard it as an important part of your career planning .
So, if you want to go to graduate school, go to graduate school. After all, the higher your academic qualifications, the more opportunities you will have.
There is no harm in improving your academic qualifications while you are still young!
