Henggang Primary School covers an area of 6153 square meters and has a school building area of 2054 square meters. One of the teaching buildings was completed in 1986. The earthquake-resistant reinforcement project has been carried out during the summer of 2009, and the other started construction in 2009. It was newly built and put into use in the fall of 2010. With the strong support of governments and education bureaus at all levels, about 3 million yuan was invested to carry out renovation and expansion projects. In the summer of 2010, the newly built 1,400-square-meter plastic playground was equipped with basketball courts, volleyball courts, badminton courts and 60-meter straight tracks. The remaining 3,000 square meters of playgrounds were covered with square bricks. The carefully trimmed seedlings were lush and the flowers and plants were flourishing. 976 Henggang Primary School officially established a party branch, and Li Muxian was appointed secretary of the Workers' Propaganda Team (1976-1978.9). The school is managed by the Port Authority.
978 The school was renamed "Honggang School" and a new two-story teaching building was built.

983 At 5:00 am on July 5, the long river collapsed, and water began to flow into the campus around 9:00 until it was completely submerged. The deepest water depth was about 2 meters. The school leaders promptly organized and led young teachers to rescue disasters, and transferred all teachers and school property to a safe area, reducing losses of nearly 10,000 yuan. The school was rated as an "Advanced Collective for Flood Control and Disaster Relief" by the Municipal Education Bureau.
985 4 teachers participated in the middle-aged teacher teaching competition organized by the Municipal Education Bureau. Two of them won the first prize in Chinese and mathematics, and participated in the city-wide observation teaching. Henggang Primary School is a remote urban-rural fringe school, of which 90% of the students come from the suburbs.
