Air and micro-air
Inakustik The current flagship series of Referenz AIR products may be divided into three levels. The basic concept is to distinguish the level of their wire materials by conductors of wires. The highest level is AIR Pure Silver. As the name suggests, the conductors are made of sterling silver; the second level is the Air series, which uses pure copper as the conductor; and finally the Micro Air series launched in 2021. The Micro Air series is divided by the number of strands of conductors.
low-capacitance and low-inductance Air Technology
factory believes that sound signals transmit audio through conductors in the form of electricity. When passing through the insulator, capacitor will be generated, causing similar small charging and discharging phenomena. Although the capacitance is not large, for signal transmission with large frequency and fast speed, this is enough to affect the complete signal transmission, sound quality, etc. According to Inakustik data, the dielectric constant of air is 1, followed by Teflon 2 and PE 2.2, and the common PVC is 3.5-4.5. But how to practice air insulation? The answer is to minimize the contact between conductors and other substances, so that the conductors can contact more air, and to maintain a balanced distance between the conductors and achieve a spiral structure and positive and negative adjacent arrangement. Inakustik's Air Helix bracket design is derived based on this principle.
German's accurate science
Inakustik launched the new Micro Air series in 2020. The new series is made using the concept of Air and new production methods. The key point is three points. First, it uses the "air grid" external network (Figure 1) so that each conductor will not directly contact each other, and air is used as a filling material between grids; second, the dielectric constant of Micro Air is 1.65, which is only a little higher than Air. Third, the Micro Air series uses same-core copper (Concentric) Copper's arrangement method, this method emphasizes accurate production process. Compared with the copper wire twisting scheme completed by a general machine at one time, the contact points of the conductor may not be too uniform and neat, which will have the opportunity to interfere with each other. Inakustik divides the workload of each layer of same-core copper. (Figure 2) Make the signal transmission lower resistance and smoother speed.
Micro Air series mainly distinguishes the number of strands of wire conductors, including single-core and double-core signal lines, 2-core, 4-core, and 6-core horn wires. LS-404 uses 8 sets of wire cores. Analyzes the center of each set of wire cores. The center of each set of wire cores is a single pure copper conductor, which starts outward. The first layer is plus 6-strand copper conductors, and the second layer is wrapped with 12 copper conductors, and the outermost layer is 19-strand, which means that each set of wire cores has a total of 38 pure copper conductors, making the poles extend more and the low frequency is more energy-sensitive. 8 sets of wire cores - there is a soft cotton core in the center, and the positive and negative poles are intertwined. They are twisted around the cotton core according to a specific angle. Inakustik officially stated that this structure, the magnetic fields of positive and negative conductors overlap and neutralize each other, which greatly reduces the inductance of the wire, making the magnetic fields of the positive and negative poles just reverse, one positive and one reverse, offsetting most of the magnetic field interference caused by the passing of the current, thereby obtaining more realistic sound quality.

I describe the sound of Micro Air as "alcohol". In my listening experience, its alcohol is because of its natural and pleasant, and the details and airiness in the music are very outstanding. Judging from the price, LS404 can be said to be a great choice!
