Foreign repair website iFixit shared a video disassembly of iPhone 14 today. In a blog post, iFixit CEO Kyle Wiens said the internal design makes it easier to repair and called it a one more internal transformation since iPhone X.

As previously discovered by other media dismantling, iPhone14 and iPhone 14 Plus are the first iPhones to open from the back since iPhone 4S. iFixit says the display and rear glass panel can be secured with just two screws and one or two connectors, making these two components easier to remove and replace.

Wines said: "This is worth it. The iPhone has been redesigned from the inside out to make it easier to repair." The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models are essentially a sandwich structure consisting of a display, a midframe that houses most of the internal components, and a glass panel on the back.

According to internal files seen by MacRumors, as long as these parts are not damaged, Apple Store and Apple authorized service providers can replace the midframe by installing a new one on the customer's existing monitor, rear glass and rear camera.

Wines continued: "The new metal midframe supporting this structure requires redesigning the entire interior, as well as reconsidering the RF and effectively doubling its inlet protection perimeter. In other words, Apple has returned to the drawing board and redesigning the iPhone's internal structure to make repairs easier".

and the new interior design significantly reduces the repair costs of cracked glass on the back of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, at $169 and $199, respectively.

Apple documentation shows that after replacing the rear glass on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, a software calibration process called system configuration is required. It is not clear what will happen if the system configuration is not completed, but the possible ranges from non-genuine parts warnings displayed on the device to problems with wireless charging, LED camera flash, and/or rear microphones.
