NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 and RTX 4060 laptop GPU performance benchmarks and specs have been leaked. Data shows that the GeForce RTX 4090 is more powerful than the desktop RTX 3090, and the RTX 4060 mobile version also surpasses the desktop RTX 3060.
Let’s start with the specs, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 has been spotted in an “X370SNx” laptop, powered by an Intel Core i9-13900HX CPU and 32GB of DDR5 memory. This laptop is loaded with the flagship NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 laptop GPU, with the same core specs as the RTX 4080 (16GB) desktop CPU: 76 SM units for a total of 9728 CUDA cores, 16GB of GDDR6 memory, and a maximum boost clock of 2040 MHz, but that's about 500MHz slower than the desktop RTX 4080 card's boost clock, and the card itself uses the same AD103 GPU.
Based on this calculation, this generation of flagship notebook GPU can provide about 40 TFLOPs of computing power, which is the same as the RTX 3090 Ti desktop graphics card. The GPU will have 150W of TGP and an additional 25W of dynamic boost power, and the performance figures will also vary based on the laptop design, so it's possible that we'll get higher performance numbers on higher-end laptop designs.
Speaking of performance, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 laptop GPU scored 210,290 points on the Geekbench 5 OpenCL benchmark, which puts it above the RTX 3090 and within striking distance of the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics card. This is a very good performance for a laptop GPU, as it is able to surpass the fastest graphics cards of the previous generation in a portable form factor. The RTX 4090 laptop GPU also ended up being 18% faster than the RTX 4080 laptop GPU.
The second leak is the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 notebook GPU, which should be a very popular mainstream GPU in the mobile field. This product will use AD107 GPU and 8GB GDDR6 memory, 128-bit bus interface, 85-140W TGP.
A screenshot of an alleged NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 laptop GPU recently leaked online, appearing on a laptop from Chinese manufacturer Raytheon Technologies. The GPU scored 10,050 points on the 3DMark Time Spy Graphics benchmark, which is already faster than the RTX 3060 desktop GPU. It's also 20% faster than the RTX 3060 laptop's GPU, which features a wider memory bus, but since there's no mention of TGP, we can't tell whether this is best- or worst-case performance.
Regardless, this is a very good score and we could see a lot of laptops with this particular chip flooding into the market next year to tackle the Intel Arc Alchemist and AMD RDNA 3 mobile lineups.
