htmlOn November 11, MIUI14 and many other new products were released with Xiaomi 13; the capsule icons, large icons and large folders that are highly anticipated by users were also officially launched. When MIUI13, you can only realize the effect of large folders and capsules through the DIY theme; this time MIUI14 is directly integrated into the system functions, and you can experience it by upgrading MIUI14. In this issue, I will explain capsule icons, large icons, and multi-function folders in all aspects from the aspects of icon size, how to set, functions, etc. I hope it will be helpful to everyone (test model: Xiaomi MIX4, MIUI14 development version)!

▼ Set capsule icons and large icons
Method 1: Long press the application icon that supports capsule icons and large icons on the desktop, and the "Settings Icon" button will pop up. Click the settings icon to enter the selection interface; select 2X1, 1X2, 2X2 styles according to your needs, and select different sizes will display the preview picture. Xiaomi 's own icon is free, and the icon customized by the designer is charged.

Method 2: Open the theme wallpaper APP, find "big icon" in the top label, select the application that needs to set the icon, and enter the icon style selection interface. Entering from the theme wallpaper app, the large icons here are all charged, and I have not seen free customized icons yet. Of course, don’t criticize the charge, because designing an icon is very laborious.

Method 3: Open the theme wallpaper APP, click "My" at the bottom, select the "Big Icon" module to enter the enabled large icons and capsule icon application list, and click "OK" to enter the icon style selection interface. After selecting the style of the customized icon, you need to click App to complete the settings.

▼ Icon size interpretation
MIUI14 capsule icon supports 2X1 and 1X2, and the large icon only supports 2X2, 1X1 is the default icon style. So what does 2X1, 1X2, and 2X2 mean? First of all, we need to know how much space each icon in MIUI takes up on the desktop. Here we need to introduce desktop icon layout, such as choosing a 4X6 layout, that is, 4 icons can be placed horizontally and 6 icons can be placed vertically. Currently, MIUI14 supports three layouts: 4X6, 5X6, and 4X7. Of course, more layouts can also be achieved through third-party themes. Therefore, before setting the capsule icon, be sure to select the desktop icon layout first, otherwise switching the layout will disrupt the icon.

Understand the desktop icon layout, then the capsule icons 2X1, 1X2, and large icon 2X2 are easy to understand. In layman's terms, 2X1 means that the capsule style needs to occupy two icon positions horizontally and one icon position vertically; 1X2 means that the capsule style occupies one icon position horizontally and two icon positions vertically; 2X2 means that both horizontal and vertically occupy two icon positions. Also note that the length and width of the capsule icon on the desktop are affected by the layout. The denser the layout, the smaller the capsule icon will be, and vice versa. Let me tell you quietly that using wordless mode will be more suitable with the capsule icon.

▼Setting multifunction folder
As the name suggests, multifunction folder is upgraded based on the original folder. Therefore, when using multifunction folders, you need to create a folder first, so I won’t go into details about this simple. Then press and hold the folder on the desktop and "Edit Folder" will pop up. Click to enter and select the "Four Grid" style, and then click "√" in the upper right corner to confirm. The multi-function folder occupies 2X2 desktop space.

▼How to fix the external leak application
Why is it called a multifunction folder? For the default folder, if we want to open the application in the folder, we need to open the folder first and then click the application. The MIUI14 multi-function folder supports "leakage applications", and you can click to open the application directly. There are three applications that can be opened directly in a multi-function folder, namely the three largest display icons; they support intelligent recommendations for leaking applications or fixed leaking applications. Fixing is the first three applications in the folder, and intelligent recommendations are comprehensive recommendations based on usage habits and application duration.

Some people say that MIUI14 is just making these fancy things? Personally, I think the purpose of MIUI14's capsule icons, large icons, and multi-function folders is to make users more efficient in using their mobile phones. I think the desktop personalization is the same. First of all, on the desktop, we set the application with the most frequent use as capsules or large icons, which make the icons more eye-catching, and users can intuitively find the APP they need. Secondly, the multi-function folder application is leaking, and you can start common applications without opening the folder. It is obviously more efficient and fast. Although there are only three, think about it carefully, how many times do you open the APP in the folder every day? How many are commonly used? In the end, I think it is desktop beautification. After all, MIUI still has many young users who like to mess around and gorgeous things.
