In recent decades, "lack of core and soul" has always been an unavoidable topic in my country's science and technology circle. The main reason for this situation is that my country's industrialization started late, and the concept of "it is better to buy than to make" has been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, which has led to our lack of key core technologies and equipment and has long relied on overseas companies. It is precisely because of this that in order to curb the development of high-tech in my country, the United States has repeatedly modified the rules and ruthlessly suppressed enterprises such as Huawei , SMIC . Especially the Huawei incident has made the whole world aware of the fact that we lack chips.
As the saying goes, "Where there is suppression, there is resistance." Chinese technology companies did not choose to "lie down" because of the sanctions of the United States, but went against the current and occupied one scientific research highland after another, and also wrote a victory chapter belonging to China's manufacturing.
The most important thing is that the country has not only set a goal of achieving a 70% chip self-sufficiency rate by 2025, but also supports the domestic chip supply chain. The purpose is also very simple, that is, to achieve domestic chip autonomy as soon as possible and completely get rid of the situation of being controlled by others.
It should be noted that there are three important steps in chip manufacturing, namely design, manufacturing, and packaging testing, and the manufacturing process requires the use of high-precision lithography machine equipment. As the world's most advanced lithography machine manufacturer, ASML cannot be shipped to the domestic market for well-known reasons, especially EUV lithography machines. It can be said that if we want to break through the Western technological "blockade", we must solve the problem of high-end lithography machines.
However, with the existing domestic technology and components, it is simply difficult to make equipment comparable to EUV lithography machines in a short time. But this does not mean that there is no solution. Chip particle technology can bypass EUV lithography machines, thereby avoiding the US blockade of our advanced semiconductor equipment.
Then what is core particle technology? In short, core particle technology is an advanced packaging technology, assembles multiple small chips in one package, and the principle is like building blocks, which can reduce the dependence on EUV lithography machines.
According to data, as of now, nine of the top ten chip package companies in the world come from China, and 19 of the 20 fastest-growing companies in the world are Chinese companies.
It is obvious that after the Huawei incident, the domestic market has deeply realized that key core technologies cannot be bought. Only by insisting on independent research and development can we make up for the shortcomings of "lack of cores and souls".
What is exciting is that my country's semiconductor company Tongfu Microelectronics has achieved a breakthrough in 5nm technology in this new technology field. In other words, even without the support of EUV lithography machines, the domestic chip industry chain can still produce high-performance chips.
More importantly, after the good news of Tongfu Microelectronics' breakthrough came, the US chip giant Chaowei directly issued a five-year long-term contract for it. This also means that domestic chip particle technology has been recognized by giants in the chip industry.
In addition to the superpower of the US chip giant, a number of US chip giants, including Intel , Qualcomm , AMD , etc., all hope that the US can lift the restrictions on chips. The reason is very simple. The Chinese market is the world's largest chip consumption market, and the revenue of these companies is inseparable from the Chinese market.
It is worth mentioning that not long ago, there was also good news from the domestic market, that is, China's first "multi-material, cross-size" production line will be completed in 2023.
No matter what, whether it is core particle technology or photonic chip technology, it proves that the domestic chip industry is growing rapidly.
