Meta CEO Zuckerberg today announced the launch of the Meta Quest Pro, a new mixed reality headset that costs $1,500 to “make the virtual world a reality.” Meta Quest Pro has several features that are rumored to be available for Apple's AR/VR headsets, and these are expected to be launched next year.
This mixed reality headset combines augmented reality and virtual reality, and is equipped with a "pizza" lens that provides high resolution while keeping the body stylish. It is reported that Apple is also using the "pizza" lens for thin and light design.
Meta Quest Pro has a curved battery on the back, which is more ergonomic, and the resolution is four times higher than the previous generation Meta Quest 2. Unfortunately, it still uses an LCD display instead of OLED.
Meta Quest Pro has 10 high-resolution sensors for eye tracking, and Meta says it can capture natural facial expressions and convert them into virtual avatars. Meta says mixed reality allows you to combine the physical world with the virtual world, so you can do things while using a physical keyboard and mouse, such as setting up a virtual workspace. In terms of
configuration, the Meta Quest Pro is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ chip, 12GB RAM, 256GB storage, a Touch Pro controller for tracking 3D locations and a 45W charging stand.
Meta Quest Pro is available for pre-order starting today and it will be shipped on October 25th.
