Yang's latest data is based on supply chain information for panel orders as of the end of November. It basically refers to the number of display panels ordered from its suppliers when Apple continues to adjust and re-adjust the production of iPhone 14. This can serve as an indication of which models Apple produces to cope with early demand data.
According to this data, the panel orders for iPhone 14 Pro Max are 18% higher than the orders for iPhone 13 Pro Max in the same period last year. Meanwhile, compared with the iPhone 13 at this time last year, iPhone 14's panel orders fell by 38%.
Yang's data also illustrates how popular the iPhone 14 Pro Max is this year, which accounts for the majority of iPhone 14 display panel orders. Overall, the total number of iPhone 14 panel orders this year is slightly higher than the iPhone 13 in the same period last year, mainly due to the increased demand for the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Finally, the data shows that the panel orders for iPhone 14 Plus are significantly higher than those for iPhone 13 mini. The iPhone 14 Plus will be officially released next week on October 7, and the inventory on the release date is still sufficient.
Bloomberg recently reported that Apple had planned to increase the production of the iPhone 14 as the holiday season approached. However, Apple is said to have dispelled the idea because demand is lower than expected. Tianfeng Securities Analyst Kuo Mingchi has also repeatedly stated that the iPhone 14 Pro Max is Apple's most popular iPhone this year.
