Since the end of 2016, Seagate has been continuously supplying Xbox-certified external SSD series. The current Game Drive for Xbox SSD is based on the internal structure and industrial design of Seagate Fast SSD. With the discontinuation of the USB 3.2 Gen 1 (BarraCuda) fast solid state drive (the market segment has switched to USB 3.2 Gen 2), it is time for Seagate to transform the internal structure of the Xbox solid state drive and give it a new look.
Seagate is launching a new Xbox game console SSD, which is inspired by the current HDD series products, with a smooth all-black appearance and adding green LED light bars. This 96mm x 50mm x 11mm bus-powered portable solid state drive weighs only 51 grams and uses a USB 3.2 Gen 1 micro interface.
Game Drive for Xbox SSD is compatible with Xbox Series X , Series S and Xbox One of all generations. The package includes a 46 cm USB 3.0 cable (micro-B to Type-A).
Seagate plans to launch only a single SKU-1TB version of the new product (STLD1000400), priced at $170. The 3-year warranty is also accompanied by data loss protection using Seagate Rescue Data Recovery Service. At present, the internal SSD parameters of this product have not yet been announced, and the new product is expected to be launched later this month, just in time for the holiday purchasing season.
