California, September 7, 2021 — HARMAN Luxury Audio's JBL Synthesis today announced a series of new products and programs aimed at improving brand performance and dealer attention. As the industry's best and most powerful immersive audio solution, JBL Synthesis provides integrators with a complete turnkey solution, including electronic products, speakers, system design assistance and system calibration. Today’s announcement includes the brand’s existing surround processor and AVR’s HDMI upgrade to support 8K video, the upcoming surround processor and AVR with integrated 8K HDMI functionality, and a new low-cost dedicated subwoofer amplifier.
Earlier this year, JBL Synthesis announced the upcoming HDMI 2.1 upgrade plan for the existing SDP-55 surround sound processor and SDR-35 AV receiver. The upgrade will be provided globally through HARMAN Luxury Audio's authorized service center network in December 2021. Pricing will be announced in November. The upgrade will replace the existing HDMI 2.0 video board with a new HDMI 2.1 video board, which supports uncompressed 8K video on all inputs and outputs.
After this upgrade plan, two new models will be launched in the first quarter of 2022. SDP-58 and SDR-38 are new models to be launched, which will include an HDMI 2.1 video board as a factory-installed component. All other features of these first-class models will be retained, including full 16-channel immersive audio support for Dolby ATMOS , DTS-X and Auro 3D surround formats, Dirac Live room calibration, including multi-subwoofer bass control, DANTE connection , IMAX enhanced certification and so on.Pricing will be announced in the first quarter of 2022 when it gets closer to availability. The existing SDP-55 and SDR-35 will remain in this range until the 2022 calendar year because of their lower prices and the ability to perform tasks in unsupported systems that require 8K video capabilities.
The new SDA-1700 subwoofer amplifier is also added to the brand's electronic product portfolio, designed for use with the SSW-4 passive in-wall subwoofer module. SDA-1700 is a two-space rack-mounted chassis with front panel level control and rear panel divider, phase, single-band PEQ and modular equalizer control. The Class D design can provide 350W of power for a single SSW-4 subwoofer or 700W for a pair of SSW-4 subwoofers. The time to market is scheduled for the first quarter of 2022, and pricing will be announced at that time.
adds new electronic devices that support 8K HDMI, new subwoofer amplifiers, and the recently expanded SCL in-wall and ceiling speaker series, enabling dealers to provide solutions in a wider range of projects while still maintaining superior High-level JBL Synthesis performance.
"The products announced today further strengthen our JBL Synthesis brand and strengthen our relationship with global distributor partners," said Jim Garrett, senior director of product strategy and planning for HARMAN Luxury Audio. "With our expanded first-class product portfolio, patented technology, and the ability to expand systems to meet almost any budget or room size, dealers and customers can rest assured that their custom AV has the best performance entertainment space available today."
