M1 Mac offset the impact of the decline in iPad shipments, so Apple maintained its second place in the PC market.
The complications brought about by the ongoing epidemic have led to the continuous growth of the personal computer market. Despite this growth, Apple is also losing some market share due to increased efforts by competitors.
According to Canalys' research, Apple is the only major PC supplier to experience negative growth in the second quarter of 2021, due to the decline in iPad demand.
If you only look at notebook shipments, this segment of Apple's market has grown by 24% year-on-year. This may be attributed to the success of M1 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro . Samsung and Lenovo achieved significant growth of 51% and 25%, respectively. These companies have been able to overcome the problem of chip shortages and have regained the territory previously lost to Apple.
The tablet computer market is relatively stable, with an overall decline of only 1%. Apple continues to occupy 45% of the market share, far ahead of Amazon with 22%.
